Posted July 11, 200222 yr comment_10361 Does anyone have extra rivets that secure the rear interior panels on a 240Z in tan? They seem to be hard to find. All of my interior panels are loose so I need quite a few.laffeaux@eandsweb.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2233-tan-interior-rivets-for-a-240/ Share on other sites

July 11, 200222 yr comment_10375 I was talking to a buddy of mine that runs a bodyshop school. He told me to just get the black ones, stick them in a block of foam with the heads out and paint them the color you need. He said it's pretty common for body shops to do that on other custom jobs. Now he didn't mention what kind of paint. Maybe someone knows what kind of paint would stick to plastic. I'm going to give it a try when I reinstall my red interior. Food for thought. July 25, 200222 yr comment_11308 This may seem like a silly question but how do you rivet them in, do you need a special interior rivet gun? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2233-tan-interior-rivets-for-a-240/#findComment-11308 Share on other sites
July 25, 200222 yr comment_11309 I cant say forsure about nissan. But with what I have used its not like A metal rivet. Where you pull till the center pops off. With these you place it in the hole then push the center in till flush with the head. At that point it locks in place. August 15, 200222 yr comment_13098 I just got my 240Z and it's got brown exterior and tan interior. I'll be painting it silver for exterior and replace all interior panels to black. You're welcome to trade with me for the tan rivets as well as interior panels with the blacks. However, I'm not sure when I'll get to pulling them off as I need to complete the sprinkler system and finish the backyard first (new house). Let me know if you're not in a hurry and can wait for a while...-Guycali Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2233-tan-interior-rivets-for-a-240/#findComment-13098 Share on other sites
August 18, 200222 yr comment_13315 G'Day there LAFFEAUX. This might sound a bit of a stupid question but have you tried your local Nissan dealer?????? I live on the coast, 45kms out of Rockhampton in Queensland, Australia and checked out the Rockhampton dealer. I changed the interior colour from tan to black. Had no trouble obtaining black plugs. In fact, I was surprised at what is still available, e.g. ORIGINAL bumper rubbers. your Z. Keep it ORIGINAL Rick. September 3, 200222 yr Author comment_14766 Thanks for all of the replies. MSA does not have any in the color that I need - they are marked "[A]" which in this case means that they are no longer made.I bought some "tan" rivets off of eBay, but they must be the tan from a 280, as they do not match my "tan" (aka Butterscotch) interior.I'm gonig to buy vinyl die and paint the rivets that I have the approvriate color.
