Go on, someone please buy a set and report back with the findings.

As a side note, the lens in my guages are green. Are LHD 240z's lens' the same?

I just ordered 10)white wide view leds (shown above 5 posts ago) and 1) green just for testing purposes.

I'll let ya know in a few days when they get here.

Dave.

Dave, if they do work i'll try them myself also as I will be pulling the dash outt anyway. What is your opinion on the spiderlite for the tail lights?

They look exactly like what I wanted to do but better. I was thinking of a 2 flap design (similar to the 3 arm but wider) ----0----

I like 'em, and the look like a good alternative to the usual clump of LEDs that you normally see.

EDIT*** I just looked at the price and there's no way in hell I'd pay $50 a peice. That's $300 for 6 lights in the rear. NOOOO

I got the 10 white wide view LEDs in the mail today. I pretested them with a 12 volt converter. The result was interesting to say the least.

Looking straight down on the bulb was brite as expected but got even bright as I tilted the bulb away from my face. It was brightest at about a 45 deg. angle. Looking straight at the side of the bulb was less brite than the top view but thats irrelavent in the gauge housings it will be going into.

so I proceeded in removing one of the tachometer bulbs out and replacing it with a new LED bulb. but before I tested it by turning on the lights, I installed the second bulb into the tachometer.

I turned on the lights to the first click and was THOUROLY HAPPY with the results. Inside my garage, with the lights on, it's hard to see my normal dash lights at all. even with the garage lights on, the new bulbs made viewing the tack a lot easier.

End result..... I'm gonna replace all my regular bulbs with the NEW LED bulbs!! as soon as I figure out how to get my big hands back there and around all the wiring I have in my dash.

I would deffinately recommend these for the 240Z or ANY Z car for that matter. They were $1.98 each and the sinle green LED was impressive as well. I'll let yopu know how it looks tomorrow when I make my way to the garage agin.

here's the green led

All I did was remove the bulb and put in the new LED bulb

The tach was alot brighter than normal and the speedo was a little brighter.

I think that the green lenses in the speedometer need to come out in order for them to be as bright as I'd like.

The tachometer was not it's ussual green color but more of a light blue color. Kinda baby blue if I had to choose a color.

I did remove the green lense from the temp gauge some time ago but did not have a chance to instal an LED tonight to see the difference between lensed and unlensed with an led
