My Wife just got a catalog from a company called Betty's Attic - they sell memorabelia toys. Anyway, right on the cover is an orange 240! Here's the photos and copy from the catalog:

Die Cast 1972 Datsun 240z

Item No. 25482

Known as the "poor man's Jaguar" for its long, flowing lines, the 240Z, produced by Nissan for the road rally circuit, won its class in Sports Car Club of America competition three years running. Our die cast metal and plastic rendition of this automotive classic features opening hood and detailed engine, opening doors and detailed interior, moving steering wheel and tires and opening rear hatch. Colors may vary, our choice, please. 1:18 scale. 8.75" long.

Their web site is: www.bettysattic.com

They say the color's vary and are their choice - maybe if a few of us order them and then we can swap to get the color of choice...

Here's another place to find them.

www.diecast18.com/

They offer secure online line ordering and nearly every diecast manufacturer as well. You name it, they got it.

BTW, if you haven't seen the Kyosho die cast Z cars, take a look, you'll be surprised by the detail work that goes into them. The prices reflect this, but they are the best I've seen yet.

Hi all,

the Franklin Mint is 1:24. The 1:18 model shown is by Sun. Compared to the price it is quite nice but the rear section is not in harmony to the original shape. Already the quarter and the rear windows are not correct. The Kyosho models are much better but also much more expensive. They have many variattions but unfortunately not (yet ?) the BRE racer. This is my favorite in 1:43 from Ebbro. Ebbro just published a nice red 280ZX in 1:43, too. If you can get the Revell 1:24 BRE, be happy !

I'd gladly pay the price for one in 1:8 scale form Kyosho. With their amount of detailing, it would have to be a terrific model. Wonder if we could gang up on them and twist their arm into building one.:devious:

Probably not, but it sure would be nice to see a few cars in a larger scale that would be display case worthy. They all want to build the smaller scales since they are easier and cheaper to produce. I'd prefer to pay a premium price for something larger and with the greatest amount of detail possible. Or am I just being too picky?:(

Thanks, but I was hoping for a die cast model. My days of having the time and patience to build plastic models are long since past. Or perhaps I'm just getting lazy as I get older.:cross-eye

I know Tamiya used to make some really beautiful model kits, haven't seen one in years. Seems that a lot of hobby stores don't carry plastic models since most people would rather play with train sets, and R/C cars and such. If I'm going to spend that much time building something, I better get my butt out in the garage and work on the real thing.:tapemouth
