......If I wasn't afraid of using up my battery trying to start the engine, it would have eventually paumped gas into the carbs.

Now I know if I let it sit for a month it will take a while for the pump to prime.

You should get a battery maintainer of some kind. I use one on my 320 Pickup when it sits for long periods and it keeps the battery charged.

Since my Z sets for several months at a time, that's one of the reasons I run an electric pump in addition to the mechanical pump. You can prime the fuel system with the electric pump before you crank the engine over.

I run a similar setup, and it works well.
