fuel question

Hey all, I finally got a chance to tinker with my 300zx today, Replaced the timing belt and tentioner (SP). The car was last tagged in Jan 05, I have changed the oil and filter, but should i change the gas as well?

It has a full tank and i really hate to throw it all away at todays prices, but i dont want to go rebuilding heads eather.

I drained all of the gas out of my '72 after it had been sitting for three years. The good thing is that if you do drain it, you can use it in lawnmowers, and other small engines.

yeah, im going to change it. Im not sure the thing will evan run yet. Tried starting it in march and had no fire. Found out the timing was all fudged up. Not i have belts to tighten and have to change the gas and maybe she will fire up.

Don't be lazy Change the gas out!

At least drain it and run it through a screan of some sort. Maybe ever cheese cloth from the paint store. Then mix it with a gallon or 2 of good gas. Just incase your wondering Gas can go bad.

I already changed it. From the looks of what came out i might need to drop the tank

The gas is just about 2 years old and unless somebody put fuel stabilizer in it. It is shot and it won't do any engine any good. When you go to start do some basic system checks first. Also I don't remember you saying you did the fuel filter but if not done change it. Then make sure you are getting fuel up to the FI system, and check to make sure you have good spark. If it's still not starting remember do not crank the engine untill the starter burns up. Give it a rest to cool down so you don't cook it. If you really want to try it before doing the tank you can run gas from a small temporary tank so you don't suck up the crud. GOOD LUCK
