December 1, 200618 yr comment_191121 I did a few more. Just trying to get a feel for what people want and what looks best. Please let me know what style you like best or what style you'd be most interested in.. top left, top middle, top right or lower set (with tweeter)I like the lower set, however, are you sure you are going to be able to cram a 4X6 and a super-tweeter in that space???? There's probably no need for the separate tweeter because most manufacturers can supply tweeters built on the front of the midrange. I found that they actually come with grills but I still like my "hidden behind the grill cloth" idea better than an external square grill. It would look funny having a square grill on a smooth round pod.I'll try and get a picture of the speaker on here for you to view.Give me more opinions guys. December 1, 200618 yr comment_191134 Hey Dave,I like your designs....for your next project would you give some thought for a design to mount a pair of small speakers up front but not in the doors. Perhaps just tweeters.....I think that would make an awesome set of quad speakers if paired with those in your current design.MAX Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22446-rear-strut-top-speaker-enclosures/?&page=3#findComment-191134 Share on other sites
December 1, 200618 yr comment_191142 Max, (and everyone else, of course) My sister has a pair like these in her Miata. They are one inch speakers, that, when combined with normal type speakers, really add punch to the system. With the top down, you can still hear the stereo, even on the Highway. I imagine they would do well in our Z's with the windows down, and the best part is-they mount on the A pillar with clips so you don't have to cut into anything. These (or something similar) would go beautifully with Dave's strut tower design. December 1, 200618 yr comment_191147 The A-pillars are at the front corners of the roof (to the body), B-pillars are at the middles (on a 4-door sedan/coupe) and the C-pillars are at the back corners of the roof. December 1, 200618 yr comment_191149 Thanks for the diagram, TomoHawk.Ya, those speakers are worth it, easily mounted, and discreet. You can mount them up high, by the sun visors, or down low over the dash, anywhere inbetween. Those I linked to were marked at $99, and I saw others for $30, but who knows about the quality. December 3, 200618 yr Author comment_191381 Hi, here are some pictures of what I thought that the seat belt covers were. I really like these, the contours and the angle at which the speakers are facing. Does anyone know about these?
