Posted December 3, 200618 yr comment_191426 #490, built in 11/69 was just listed on Ebay and is a V8 conversion that needs a lot of work. But, at least it's a California car, so hopefully it doesn't have much rust. December 4, 200618 yr comment_191492 HI Guys,Looking at ebay pics on this one...I know ya'll like to check out the details...at least i do.1)...I thought early cars...< Vin 2400 or so came without expansion tank inside hatch area. 2)Later 72-73 dash...Isn't it amazing that so many of these early cars, that came with Slotted rotor hats are still running em. You'd figure after 30 plus years, wear, warpage would take these items out of service.David Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22501-490-listed-on-ebay/#findComment-191492 Share on other sites
December 4, 200618 yr comment_191507 ^^ i thought that they did come with the expansion tank, except that they were plastic instead of metal..... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22501-490-listed-on-ebay/#findComment-191507 Share on other sites
December 4, 200618 yr comment_191508 They came with the plastic expansion tank, as mine has one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22501-490-listed-on-ebay/#findComment-191508 Share on other sites
December 4, 200618 yr comment_191509 I have 1222 and 2446 .... No expansion tanks, no provisions on left side of gas tank for vent hose either. I remember a while back reading a quick thread, but no difinitive cutoff for w/or without expansion tank. Duffman since you have VIN 1300? or, maybe California had emissions issuses back in 70? December 4, 200618 yr Author comment_191522 Does the stamping on #490's driver's side door jamb ID plate look kind of strange to you guys? Compare it to the stamping on #797's. I know my '71 and '72 stampings look a lot more like #797's.
