TomoHawk Posted December 4, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 4, 2006 Anybody using a PDA or phone in their car? What style is it- windscreen mount, vent mount, floor mount, or what? I thought it might be possible to make a bracke that goes on the side of the heater section, or the side of the glovebox, and then attach the PDA mount to that, so it doesn't block the vents, gauges or windscreen.I use a Palm PDA, with GPS & Mapopolis.thx. TomoHawk Posted December 5, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted December 5, 2006 fits fine right on the dash of the Corolla haven't tried the Z yet. What kind of adappter? glass mount?thx
TomoHawk Posted December 5, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted December 5, 2006 I found a 'floor mount' phone holder on eBay. It has an arm that goes to the front seat bolt. It seems to be a good way to mount a phone/PDA/MP3 player, but you have to take your eyes off the road to look DOWN at the PDA or phone; not a good habit in traffic or twisties. But then it's good to have voice prompts of you are using a PDA for navigation. Floor mount Auction I will look into a similar mount to attach to the side of the heater area frame.thx
TomoHawk Posted December 29, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted December 29, 2006 Is anyone using the dash-mounted suction cup disk? I am concerned about getting one of those because the disk might be conspicuous, as it doesn't blend in with the curves of the dash, and it can't come off. I will assume they probably work about as good as a glass mount, but what kind of support does your mount use, gooseneck or artculated? The articulated style looks like it would be more rigid.BTW, I think Mapopolis might be cutting the price of the NavPack maps to about $70.thx
280z1975 Posted December 29, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 29, 2006 My friends who have GPS (I have yet to find 300 bucks extra that I wouldn't rather put into my Z) all have used glass mount ones. They work fine and keep the GPS at eye level.
TomoHawk Posted December 29, 2006 Author Share #7 Posted December 29, 2006 My GPS was almost free and I already have a Palm. Do you think the stalk blocks the window any?
