Nissan Sport will be in major bookstores nationwide starting in January. And we need the help of you 240Z owners. To announce our 5-page “Auction Guide,” we would like to run a thumbnail photo of a 240Z on the cover.

We’ve got plenty of stock images to choose from, but the staff decided it would be great to get a 240Z photo from an enthusiast. The photo will be on the upper right portion of the page--refer to the image of the 280ZX on our current cover (view at www.nissansportmag.com).

WE NEED:

-high resolution image of your 240Z

-image needs to be facing left, ideally at a 3/4 angle

-refer to the 280ZX on our current cover for example of car angle

-your full name, city, state

-year of your Z and major mods (if any)

E-MAIL me the photos and info at editor@nissansportmag.com.

DEADLINE: Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 6) at noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific). Sorry for the short notice, but we’re crazy busy on deadline and we just came up with the brilliant idea. Have fun and good luck!

Feel free to e-mail me with any Qs and look for an update on the new issue soon--just as soon as we can complete the cover! Have a great holiday everyone. Look for the magazine to start arriving in early January.

Thanks guys! It gave me a good excuse to spend the afternoon detailing her.

Yes, congrats! Although I think that a red car on the cover would have been more striking. LOL

I do admire your car everytime I look at your avatar.

They might have had issues with the shadows on the paint, or the size of the file. I sent them one similar to this w/o the girl:

I'd ask what you did with the girl, but I have a pretty good idea....

Probably the reflectionon the paint and the size of the final image had more to do with it than the stock condition-Jonathans car is pretty cllose to stock too.

I doubt it was the image size, I sent a high-res shot that would be simple to reduce to whatever size they needed. But the shadows and reflections are a very likely problem. But it was the best shot I had on short notice, since I've only had the red Z for a couple months now, and not a lot of great photo weather since then. Anyway, no big deal to me, I get to walk into the garage and look at it anytime I want...

I will take the blame for which car was picked. Since I had the final say.

I was looking for a car with low reflection. I couldn't use the ones parked near or under trees due to the reflection and I didn't want to spend a lot of time doing photoshop work.

The main problem with using a red car was the fact the background has a lot of red in it and I thought the car would wash out because of that. Blue was also an issue since it has a tendency to vibrate next to red.

There were a bunch of great shots and the white Z was the safest to go with.

But fear not, we will actually use a lot of the shots that weren't picked in future issues. Like to show examples of what I'm trying to attain with the 240Z project car since it is far from looking like any of the ones submitted.

And Ron, I'm still working on getting you slotted for a feature using all three of your cars. I think it will make for a great cover story. Maybe we can do the photo shoot during MSA.

Art, there's no "blame" to be taken. As I suspected, you picked the picture that worked best for what you wanted to do. The fact that a 240Z is on the cover is great, whether it's mine or not.

Don't sweat it, it's all good.

Hey Art,

A chassis primed and sealed in a garage has no reflections-nudge-nudge, wink-wink! My car is still on a rotiiseie for those really hard to get shots...

Nothing on it but a smile(-I'll throw a towel over her privates for the family orientation of the magazine...), and some primer sealer...

Hey Art, there always have to be winners and losers when it comes to making a decision. I can see why you chose the car you did...No blame...

As for my cars and your magazine, sure, what ever works...We should probably talk about it off line.

Thanks! I did send them the full 7 megapixel version of the attached shot, but the car is so obviously stock and un-modified that it probably wasn't considered quite right for a magazine named "Nissan Sport".

Just remember Arne, The 240Z was originally called "the 240Z Sport" so technically, your car would be a better choice for originality on a cover that reads Nissan Sport. No offense to others, just making a point.
