Nissan Sport will be in major bookstores nationwide starting in January. And we need the help of you 240Z owners. To announce our 5-page “Auction Guide,” we would like to run a thumbnail photo of a 240Z on the cover.

We’ve got plenty of stock images to choose from, but the staff decided it would be great to get a 240Z photo from an enthusiast. The photo will be on the upper right portion of the page--refer to the image of the 280ZX on our current cover (view at www.nissansportmag.com).

WE NEED:

-high resolution image of your 240Z

-image needs to be facing left, ideally at a 3/4 angle

-refer to the 280ZX on our current cover for example of car angle

-your full name, city, state

-year of your Z and major mods (if any)

E-MAIL me the photos and info at editor@nissansportmag.com.

DEADLINE: Tomorrow (Wednesday, December 6) at noon Eastern (9 a.m. Pacific). Sorry for the short notice, but we’re crazy busy on deadline and we just came up with the brilliant idea. Have fun and good luck!

Feel free to e-mail me with any Qs and look for an update on the new issue soon--just as soon as we can complete the cover! Have a great holiday everyone. Look for the magazine to start arriving in early January.

Just remember Arne, The 240Z was originally called "the 240Z Sport" so technically, your car would be a better choice for originality on a cover that reads Nissan Sport. No offense to others, just making a point.
Technically true. But my submission did have some fatal flaws. Plus I'm not sure that originality was part of the criteria.

It was nothing more then a call for 240Z's. Modified or bone stock was not an issue. It had to do with what best worked with the background of the cover. In this case white was best. There was a nice shot of a red Z and blue Z that I would have liked to use but there would have been print issue, like the red Z blending in with the background and the blue one fighting with the background. Blue has a tendencie to vibrate when printed against red without a white outline seperating them. A good example is 3D glasses that have one red lens and one blue lens. Your eyes react to those colors in combination.

You guys got it all wrong. I was only re-asuring Arne that a true nissan "Sport" would be an original looking 240Z. They were introduced as 240Z Sports. If a book was to be written on the classics and the title was "Nissan Sport", a classic 240Z would be the proper picture for the cover.

The magazine in question only wanted a side story picture and the one they chose, fit the bill. It's a great Magazine and I would never put it down so please don't twist my words and make it sound like I'm bad mouthing some one or something.

Boy I'd LOVE to hear and see more documentation about this!!! I thought first off it was a "Fairlady" then a 240Z.

Zs-ondabrain can you share more info with us?

Just like AWC said

" Actually earlier than the 240z were the Datsun roadster in the U.S. 1964 through 1970, called the Datsun 1500 Sports, 1600 Sports, and 2000 Sports. "

And if you find and look at the opriginal liturature and owners maunuals, They say the 240Z Sports or the Sport 240Z. The cover is blue with white writing I believe.

I'll look for a picture of it.
