December 7, 200618 yr comment_191762 My friend who drives an Infinity has finally gotten to where he doesn't flinch when I ask him how his Datsun is running... But I suspect some folks would consider that fighting words. I did however talk him into signing up for Nissan Sport, so he must be taking it pretty well. December 7, 200618 yr comment_191766 Slobound76:I just realized that I had a mistake in the link for Nissan Sport Magazine which I posted a couple days ago...Here is the correct link:www.nissansportmag.comI think it is a pretty good magazine but I was much more interested in its predecessor, Sport Z Magazine, especially the first couple years that concentrated more on the original Z cars. I will continue to get the new magazine even though it has a lot of coverage on other Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. It seems like they are still committed to having articles on the older Zs. December 7, 200618 yr comment_191769 Guys, I know the editor very well and the magazine recently went through a business redesign. The same people who brought you Sport Z are also doing Nissan Sport. It will continue to have early Z coverage. If you want to see more early Z coverage, consider donating your time and help the guys put together some interesting data. We have a dedicated forum just for the magazine where you can post questions to the editor. Here's a link to their forum: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=134-- Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22528-z-car-magazines/?&page=2#findComment-191769 Share on other sites
December 7, 200618 yr comment_191790 Though NS mag may have some early Z coverage, I prefer not to read through the other stuff to get to it. In a mag like Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car, I find the 'other stuff' to be more interesting than G35s and SERs and Xterras. 'Classic Speed and Style From Around the Globe' is just more interesting to me than 'The quarterly magazine for Nissan, Datsun, and Infiniti enthusiasts'. Plus, it's monthly for about the same price. December 7, 200618 yr comment_191794 Hi Mike:I too know the guys at Nissan Sport (was Sport Z). I too understand why they expanded the coverage and evolved the business model. I too wish them well and try to help them in any way I can.All that doesn't change the fact that I too, have really no interest in Nissan's current offerings. I enjoy getting Nissan Sport - but not nearly as much as I enjoyed getting the more focused coverage of Sport Z.It's a matter of focus isn't it? This site started as I recall, because you and others wanted to focus on Classic Z Cars (see below)... at the time that was considered to be the 70-73 First Generation Datsun 240-Z's. People didn't want to wade through all the other stuff related to all generations of Z's on the "big list".Now the Classic Z Car Club has expanded its focus to 280Z's, 280ZX's, modified Z's and 240K's ( I clearly remember that at the beginning no one ever wanted to hear about Fuel Injection problems). Now your advocating getting a magazine full of not only coverage of all Z Cars ... but all of Nissan's lineup, advertising and corporate news!To each his own - but I find it somewhat an ironic evolution.... At any rate I've enjoyed the ride..kind regards,Carl B. = = = = = = = = = = = From the Way Back Machine - - -- - - - As Of Feb. 1998: www.240Z.orgWhat is the 240z-Club all about? The "club" itself was originally created as an Internet location for people who were interested in the 240z. There is also a "big list" called the Internet Z Car Club (IZCC). IZCC was originally inspired by owners of all Datsun/Nissan Z-Cars. This list was created for owners and fans of the EARLY Z's. It is in our opinion that this car was the true Z and will always be the classic. There is a particular spot for us in the whole scheme of the Z. We are the EARLY boys (and girls). We own the early Z cars. These "early" cars are the true meaning behind the Z, and we all stand proud on that issue.and:Who should (or shouldn't) join? Should: 240z owners. Owners, managers, or staff members of a Z-Car related organization. 240z fans but not necessarily current owners. Discussions about 260 and 280z's are also welcome if they relate to the 240z in some way or another. People who love and hate the Z. Shouldn't: ZX owners 300 series owners Persons who do not wish to discuss the 240z Sales messages or any discussions that do not stem the 240z. December 7, 200618 yr comment_191799 Good point, Carl While it is (or was) kind of "offensive" that owners of ZXs or 300Zs were suggested to not get involved, this web site has evolved to finally include all S30s, and the 240k , all of which are related under the skin. It was still appropriate for the site originator to define the scope of material to just the 240Z, just as there are other web sites dedicated to cars like the Cooper Mini, or the Ford Pinto, or even the *gulp* 350Z (no frog smiley/icon?) There are better places to go to for those niche autos, or even places like RoadGodz.com, where they talk mostly about touring or driving Zs to places or events all over the country. Anybody have a record of the very first few posts from 240Z.org? thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22528-z-car-magazines/?&page=2#findComment-191799 Share on other sites
December 8, 200618 yr comment_191875 Fun_in_my_z, it's your lucky day. PM me your mailing address and I will send you that free issue.Plus I will have some new news on the "wheel" front for early Z's. There will be two new styles coming out: 14" and 15" with "0" offset. Might not be everybody's (I like them, but I'm easy to please) cup of tea but at least there will be more choices. And sorry, it won't be in the issue I'm sending you. It will be in the Winter issue. I'm sure someone with a sub on this forum will read it and pass it on to you all.
