240z Drifting

i was just wondering if anyone out there drifts thier 240z and what kind of modifications were done ? i have a 72 240z with a 5 speed 280zx tranny , duel webbers , bored out , cam, speed shifter , etc. i have done the drag strip and now im thinking of taking my baby on the track .

those who modify for the purpose of drifting on this board are few and far between. Over at Hybridz.org, however, you will find more than enough info.

Back in the days I was autocrossing it was called bad loose instead of drifting.

Drifting blows chunks. All the real drifters will tell you it the very worst thing (abuse-wise) you could possibly do to a car, except, perhaps, launching it off a bridge. Go to a Corrola GTS meet. All the drift cars have front end damage and have been through several engines. Watch a drift - 3 seconds of drift - 20 seconds of recovery.

I always get a kick out of the young drift guys, thinking it is something new!!! Shoot, sprint car guys have been doing it for decades. One thing is for sure...the tire companies certainly love it!

A 240Z is far from the ideal drift car.

If you want to go have fun drifting, please do yourself and your car a favour and sell it for another more common, easily replaced car.

They are in the USA, 240z's are common and easily replaced.

Even though the 240Z's are "easily replaced" in the States, I wouldn't drift one. If you wreck it, you don't want to be sending it to the crusher.

I think drifting is great. Its not really that competitive, but as a community based event its awesome. If you go on Drifting.com or DailyDrifter.com the guys are just so nice.

Even though drifting is kind of like ice dancing for cars, its entertaining, and that's the entire purpose of drifting today. Is to entertain.

I just want to learn for track purposes and to learn to be able to control my z in any situation . i want to know what my car will do and wont do .

i plan on doing this in a safe open area .
