Posted December 9, 200618 yr comment_192035 I am looking for information on the cold air intakes I see on Ebay. The store name is Intakepower Air Intake. They have a Buy-It Now price of $7.15. They claim it increases HP and milage. Anybody out there used one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22563-cold-air-intake/ Share on other sites

December 9, 200618 yr comment_192056 I made mine as well, As for telling a differance I'm not sure I can but you can hear the thing sucking air. I got a 3in Polished Alum tube from a local speed shop for 20$ and a cone filter from Auto Zone for 30$ I think it was.Eric Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22563-cold-air-intake/#findComment-192056 Share on other sites
December 17, 200618 yr comment_192882 I have a cold air intake, but I don't have a good mounting bracket. Right now its just held in by zip-ties (yikes!) but I have been unsuccessful trying to fabricate my first car part ever out of a piece of bent metal. I have seen pictures, but does anyone have any tips for creating a proper mounting piece for the cold air intake? December 17, 200618 yr comment_192883 Here's a picture of my intake & support bracket I got the elbow & filter off eBay, I used the oem rubber bellows to connect the elbow to the air meter. The strap gose all the way around so the tube doesn't get distorted. December 17, 200618 yr comment_192885 Did you just use some scrap flat metal and some snips to make the piece which supports the assembly on the original airbox mount? Looks like you did, I'll try that and see if it it solid. December 17, 200618 yr comment_192890 Here's a more recent shot of my CAI with the bracket I'm presently using. It's just a metal strap but it's sturdier than the others in the old shot so I only need the one to hold it. December 17, 200618 yr comment_192892 Thesupport plate was made of 1/8 aluminum, and the hangar strap was made of a chromed steel strip. I cut the plate using my jeweler's saw (used for model-making.) You could use anything for the strap, andthe strap wraps completely around for support. I would suggest something that won't rust. Also, I used the oem clamps for the hose end atthe AFM, and a worm-screw clamp (modern) for the filter end. Stephen- Is that one screw really going to hold the weight of the tube & filter? That's why I use both airbox screws. I am still wondering about what difference there is between the short and long tubes? #1: Strap #2: modern clamp on filter end and oem clamp on AFM end Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22563-cold-air-intake/#findComment-192892 Share on other sites
December 17, 200618 yr comment_192925 The one screw holds it quite well. Better than when I had the two thinner clamps. I just like the longer tube and having the filter in the center in an open area behind the grille rather than behind the left headlight.
