Hello to everyone...

This summer I purchased a 74' 260Z auto with 68k miles. It spent it's entire running life in Hawaii, then was shipped to the main land in 1990 and was put in storage until this now. With that said, there is no rust on my Z, but I am dealing with all kinds of funny issues common with that of any car that has been sitting for 15+ years. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

welcome! what specific issues are you experiencing? if it was store with fluids, you're going to want to flush everything. also, when you get it up and running, might i suggest a nice seafoam treatment?

Welcome to the site. You've found a very informative place.

Drain the petrol tank.

Flush fuel feed and return lines.

New fuel filter.

Add a bottle of engine flush to the oil, run engine and drain.

New oil filter and oil.

New points, rotor, cap, HT leads and plugs.

New airfilter.

Drain gearbox oil.

New gearbox oil.

Drain all brake lines and flush.

New brake fluid.

Blead brakes.

Check the radiator hoses are OK and replace if looking suspect.

Replace fan belt. Put a spare in the boot.

Check rear hatch seals.

Check brake light rubber gaskets.

Check petrol tank vapour return lines.

Check oil pressure sender.

Remove and test thermostat.

Drain and back flush the radiator.

New antifreeze.

Check wallet for massive holes.

Go to the doctor for some pills to ease the fever. No known cure available as yet but there's always hope......isn't there?????

Hey there and welcome to the club. With your car spending that much time in Hawaii, I'm surprised there's anything left of the body. That salt air is a killer. I'm not sure anyone's ever noticed, but you don't see very many classic cars in Hawaii. Perhaps it's just the culture that gravitates towards new cars, but the older ones I saw were complete rust buckets to the point that pieces were nearly falling off of them.

Well if you do see them over there there stored inside where the salt air doesnt get to them..Alot of people rinse down there cars everyday to keep the salt off.....But anyways WELCOME....
