Posted December 21, 200618 yr comment_193307 I currently own a 1971 240Z. Prior to this I have had and still have MGB's. With an MGB you can write to the British Motor Heritage Trust, and for a fee get a certificate that tells you how your car looked when it was made. Exterior color, interior color, any factory installed options, etc. Is there anything available for the early Z's? Is it as simple as going to a dealership and running the VIN? My 1967 MGB was red with a black interior when I bought it and it's history shows that it was black with a red interior, white wall tires, and a luggage rack when it left the factory in Abingdon. It also gives you the chassis number, engine number and drivetrain number in order to tell if your cars numbers match. If anyone has any information on where to find this out it would be greatly appreciated. As always, thanks in advance and may your holiday's be filled with your fondest wishes and good tidings.PeaceJerry Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22709-tracing-a-vin-number/ Share on other sites
December 21, 200618 yr comment_193309 Sorry, Jerry. I too had a Heritage certificate for my '67 MGB, but that data is not available for our Datsuns. I've read various explanations as to why Datsun doesn't have it, and don't know which explanation (if any) are correct. But regardless of why, that info isn't available.
