Hi all,

I'm posting an official request for a new site logo and mascot. If you have graphic talent and would like to help out the site, we could use your abilities! The artist whos logo we choose will receive $50, a club Tshirt, and microfiche CD.

The new logo will be placed in the upper left of all web pages and also part of our main theme. I am currently working on a new look for the site and would like to make the new logo part of it.

The old logo (oval Z) will not go away and we would like to fit it into the new logo/mascot. Anything will do, but, the design shouldn't be too complex. It needs to be fun.... We will also use it on our new club Tshirt.

Here are some neat designs I've seen:

Mike (et all),

I have a quick question .... are we wanting a detailed, photo graphic logo? or are we wanting more simplistic Z logo (like the one in the background of the current club logo in the upper left) which is more effective to be recognized as a logo? Or are we going for a combination of both, similar to what we have.. I've seen suggestions for both styles ...

It would help to figure out what directions we want to go ... it's pissing rain, gusting wind to 50mph and the first weekend of 'official' bicycle racing here in Belgium and I'm glad I wasn't selected for the races this weekend LOL ... so with this rest day from the bike I can do a little graphic work ...

PS: My wife and I's apartment sold and that means the Z is coming soon (and the wife hehe) Should be here middle of April. Yeay ....

I haven't frequented this site much... been busy with other things. I just ran across this thread tonight. So...

1. You want to keep your present logo

2. You want to integrate a fun cartoon-style mascot (maybe a Zcar)

3. You want the site name included (same font?)

What about adding three Z-cars looking as though they've gotten together for a discussion "Classic Zcar Cub" style... one old (510), middle-aged (280ZX), and a young (350ZX). These could be personified similarly as in the movie "Cars". The old 510 could be smoking a stinking stogy and yapping incessantly while the young 350Z might be completely pre-occupied with a hand-held game and the 280Z could be stuck in the center, eyes rolled up in well-humored frustration.

Granted, the size will need to be increased a bit to accomodate the additional graphics. It's just a thought... I'm trying to get a feel for the place here.

EDIT: Just read the sexy anime chick post and saw your reaction.

Another idea... an old 510 (male), middle-aged 280Z (male) and a sexy young 350ZX (female). The female is swishing by the two male Z's... both their eyes are popping and the old 510's cigar is nearly falling from his mouth (jaw dropped).

Hi guys,

We are looking for a mascot or some kind of character that will be featured in many different areas of the site. The main logo (oval Z) will not be changed, however, I would like to take our new mascot and combine that with the logo in the upper left.

We aren't planning to host the 350z or the 510, but, we are considering the ZX (as it approaches 30) and possibly the Roadster (because it was the original Fairlady and basis for the Z). The graphic of all the car/characters sounds pretty funny and I'd love to see a compilation like that!! :D

I'm up for all sorts of ideas as we look into a redesign of the site.

I saved the image of DatMan when the actual figure was auctioned on Ebay. It was on display at a California Datsun dealership. If my memory is right, it was in the early 70's. I think it was about 2' tall or so. I think it was mentioned somewhere in our archives, so someone else must remember or know more than I do.
