Hmmmm,

My "Precious" is a 8/74 260Z with the Vin RS30 000940. And being an Oz car, it's R/H drive.

Could it be that the "G" denotes it as a Japanese car ?????

Alright, ... alright, ... ALRIGHT JASON, .... you KNOW what I mean mate.

Rick.

what would this VIN mean

GS 30-003009

it a right hand drive and i think its from Japan

Any help?

They are all from Japan, :)

'GS30-003009' is a 'Fairlady Z 2/2' or 'Fairlady Z-L 2/2' ( close scrutiny of specification needed to discern between the two ) and it was built in the 1974 calendar year.

It is more likely to be the higher-spec 'Z-L' version simply because so few customers in Japan chose to buy base-spec 2/2 versions.........

Speaking of VIN numbers, I need a blank VIN plate. I had my 72 dash restored and the VIN plate was removed to allow the vinyl to be placed under the bracket that the plate is rivited to. The Company that restored it lost it.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

adjer, the person I have always gone to for this kind of help has been Mike at Banzai Motorwork, www.zzxdatsun.com. I am sure he would be of assistance in either finding a source for this plate, or possibly having one in his inventory. Good luck.

Actually, while it is true that the vast majority of all first generation Z's are from Japan, a few stayed there and are thus in Japan.

On the other hand, if by "all" the reference was to a GS30, now found outside Japan, then at least it is from Japan;-)

Merry Christmas Everyone....
