Confusion over correct part

I had to fix my window regulator today on the drivers side(left), and in the process the material inside the chrome window frame just crumbled. I looked at Black Dragon and Motorsports to see what goes back in there and both sites have different parts. Is there two pieces that go back in? A rubber piece and a felt, or is it just a rubber channel? I have no idea.

Just to clarify, when you roll the window up, it would be what the top and side of the glass rest in when rolled up. If anyone knows the correct name or part number please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Randy

On my car it's a rubber U-shaped channel that is also covered on the inside with a felt-like material so I guess you'd have to count that as one piece. I think I got them from MSA a few years ago. They call it a "door window channel".

Hi Randy

There are two parts that go inside the window frame. The "rubber" goes inside the frame that is inside the door at the rear - the "felt" runs from the rear of the window frame above the door, up around the top and then down the front of the frame.

Take the frame out - clean out the old "rubber and felt".. then replace both. If you don't you'll have to do it a short bit later anyway.

FWIW,

I have a '73 Z and I used Window channel from JC Whitney . Window channel comes in 8' lengths for about $8.00 each and you need two . Part number #18SB4877X The inner belt '' fuzzy'' stuff. It's for the top of the inner door. $15.00 for a 6' length , one is needed .19SB3480P I attached it with pop rivits . I trimed the fuzzy stuff away from where the flange of the pop rivit will seat so that there is plenty of room and it will not touch the glass and they are unseen Gary

Window channel???.

The wrecking yards are full of it. And it's a lot cheaper.

You'll also find the little spring clips that hold the door handles on, gear stick knobs, screws, washers, nuts, bolts, ........... all sorts of good gear that'll fit in your pocket for use at some time in the future.

Rick.

Hi Randy:

The last time I purchased the parts from Courtesy - I don't recall them being very expensive. You can certainly use aftermarket parts.. I simply like the way the OEM parts are pre-cut and fit. The first sets lasted about 35 years - so I thought I'd stick with them.

Felt-Glass Run Door 80335-E4102

Rubber-Glass Run Door 80336-E8700

(not to be confused with the Fuzzy Felt attached to the door panel, nor the rubber wiper attached to the chrome strip on the top of the door outside the glass window.)

Just why Nissan used two different materials... I'm not sure. But perhaps it's because when the window is down, it's held in place at the rear of the window frame - and using rubber there provided a firmer hold - or perhaps the "felt" used wouldn't get as good a chance to dry out inside the door with the glass held against it.

I do know that when that lower section of rubber starts to fall apart.. it can become very difficult to roll the window down.

FWIW,

Carl B.

Thanks Carl,

The rubber run was only $12.64. The felt part number came back "item not found". There is a part 80335-N3700 that is Nissan felt-glass, I didn't know if that was the same so I figured I would call Tuesday to verify before ordering.

Thanks again,

MERRY CHRISTMAS
