Does anyone know if the green paint used on the 70/71 240's is basiclly the same as BRG. I think Datsun called it "Racing Green" but wasn't sure how the color differed from BRG. Also did they use this color green at all in 72/73?

I want to add one more 240 to the garage but only want one in Green.

Thanks for any input.

You are correct, the color name is Racing Green and it would be very difficult to compare it to the obscure terminology of "British Racing Green" other than to say, yes, it's the same. 907 is correctly described - http://zhome.com/History/ZColorGallary/index.html

The Racing Green color scheme came with both black and butterscotch (tan) interior.

We've been having a similar discussion on a powdercoating forum that I am a member of. There is no one 'british racing green', but several that have been used by the different british manufacturers over the years. Rolls used 3 different shades as early as the '20s.

RAL6005 is the accepted shade in most british car clubs.

Not that this directly applies here, but interesting nonetheless.

my car is colour #240 and it looks nothing like the colour of the car pictured on that zhome page if that helps at all...although its not a british racing green colour, some people ask if it is or tell me to get it painted in it, however i like this shade of green and havn't come across a green on any other car that i like more, its got a hint of yellow in it when the light hits it but not to much. however am concidering painting it orange or a laguna seca blue kind of colour after scratching up one side of the car the other day :(

Color match it and copy it.

A rare shade's a rare shade.

Kind of like old Lionel Toy Trains from the 1930's and '40's.

They'd run out of a shade of blue for a toy locomotive and water it down by mixing it with another color, another shade of blue or use a completly different color all together. Creating a really rare variant ^_^

What was blue in real life might be Orange on the toy.

what??? are you saying the train was blue but they decided to paint it orange?

and i'm not saying my green is a rare green (its been resprayed in the orginal colour), i'm just saying imho the pictures of this paint code are wrong, atleast to the #240 that was used in australia, as i have now seen 2 other zeds over here painted the same colour, although i guess i havn't confirmed their paint code, so it could be another colour, as i havn't gotten to speak to the owners, but then the orginal owner of my car said he had it resprayed in the orginal colour, and i dont see why he would of changed it since he picked it in the first place!

i'd love my car the colour of the miura concept, still debating what to do though, am going to leave it until next spring

Well maybe not that peticular train I'm thinkin about. The real one was called ~The Blue Comet~ and was based out of New Jersey City. The whole train was blue, steam engine and all.

It's kind of hard to sell something called ~The Blue Comet~ when it doesn't have blue.

But some were painted a different shade of blue when Lionel ran low on paint on a certain day.

Other things though like passenger cars and boxcars did sometimes end up in, how should we say, Orange ^_^

What does the Miura Concept look like?
