Finally got the Konig's, but have a question...

I finally got the Konig Rewinds I ordered! I got the 15x7, '0' offset in silver. The tires I got with them are 205/60r15 Michelin Pilot Exalto directionals. The back of each rim says 15x7JJ and ET 0.

I dont want to bother putting them on now, as Im moving at the end of the month and I dont want to risk getting them scuffed or snowy. The guy said that these tires are a touch wider than most, but that they are good tires. My question is, does anyone know if these tires will be a problem as in they are too wide or anything?

I went to the website and found this info:

Section Width on Measuring Rim Width: 8.4 on 6

Overall Diameter: 24.5

I just thought I'd ask while I can still take them back and change them if I need to.

It wasn't easy finding a local distributor, but Jack at TIREBUTLER in Toronto went out of his way getting them for me. Call him if you need Rewinds!

I'm running 225's with Konigs on my car, too. No problems.

I'm considering getting some Yokohama ES100 225/50/15's for my 15x7 Rewinds ad I'm curious if you had to roll your fenders to clear the tires under compression. Do you think your tires would come in contact with the fenders under full compression? Is your car lowered?

I actually didnt pay for them. I worked on his website and fixed him up with some computers and a network and he comp'ed me the wheels and tires. He's a great guy (www.tirebutler.com) and I've been dealing with him for years. I expected a 'deal' on them but not a freebie. I guess I'm committed to finishing the website.

There is only one actual Konig distributor in Canada and theyre on the East Coast. He ended up dealing with Konig USA direct to get a better deal I think, but it took quite awhile to get them up here.

He picked the tires and told me they were a good choice given the size I told him, thats why I asked everyone if they had any clearance issues.

I'm Looking At The Same Konig Rewinds For My 82' 280zx But Don't Know If I Should Go 15 Or 16? What Do All Of You Out There Think. Does The 280zx Look Good With These Or Should They Just Go With The Earlier Model Z's. I Don't Want To Go To Big But Want A Nice Updated Look. Will 15's Be Enough?

Those tires should fit with no rubbing. That is the size I am running on my car. Are you going to use the ES 100's on the street or the track? I have used them on the track and they were good at the start and very quickly went down hill from there. The edges tend to chunk pretty badly. I intend to replace them after only 2 seasons as they have really lost their grip. They probably would be ok for a street driven car though.

Are any of you guys using the Toyota 4x4, vented rotor brakes with your Rewinds? I am interested in getting a set, but I want to make sure these big calipers will fit behind them.

I bought a set of the graphite 15x7 Rewinds when they were first available a couple of years ago. I ordered them through Tiretrends.com (in Vancouver), and have had nothing but excellent pricing and service through them. At the time, the price per wheel after CAD/US Dexchange was BETTER than the ebay price.

I decided to play it safe for now and got 205/55R15s - the 206/60s were a bit tall, and I actually had some contact issues with the previous 215/60R14s. The only problems I've had are the super-cheapo plastic centering rings cracking, and the front hubcaps not fitting over the hubs. Arch at TT has offered to send me new centering rings, but I'll have him send them with my next tire order for one of my other cars. I haven't found a solution to the hubcap problem yet, but would love to hear if someone has...

Tread width appears to the be the problem associated with rubbing. With the 205's MSA has determined that no problems exist regardless of tread width. When you go wider, you have to check the tread width to see if you have problems. I have the 15x7 Konigs graphite with polished lip with Yokohama Avid H4s 205/60R15 tires. 500AA/A UTQG

Thanks Marty. I will only be using these on the street for now. If I decide to start doing autocross, I may go with something else, but then again, these are fairly cheap.

This is something i am planning on doing at some point and I belive I read somewhere that there was no problem.
