I'm about ready to update the Datsun Z Paint Code Gallery on zhome.com ............... Better pics of ones already in the gallery are welcome too. Photos of Z's with original paint preferred but good resprays will work too. If you have one please attach it in this thread and I will add it with the other updates.

THanks.

Michael

I've attached a pic of our '71 918 Orange.

All automobile manufactures release their color codes, along with the information related to the primary colors mixed to achieve it. In this case Nissan's Color Code is 611.

PPG - takes the information provided by Nissan, and mixes that color with their paints - they might use the exact same mixture as Nissan, or they may have to alter the formula slightly when using their color products, in order for the final color to come out the same. In this case the 51013 is PPG's code for their color mix. In an ideal world, the paint from Nissan's OEM, and that from PPG should produce the same end result...

Other manufacturers would have their own color codes, that represent their mix of colors needed to match that of Nissan's 611.

FWIW,

Carl B.

After reading the recent postings on this older thread, then seeing my old post and the attached pic back in January, I didn't realize how bad the lighting was with the low winter sun. Here's a better picture with much better lighting taken last May. This one seems to do more justice for the beautiful 918 Orange color (man, I wish I still had this car ).

Michael, I have question about 2 colors.

113 - Green Metalic from the 240Z

302 Green Leaf Metalic form the 260 and 280Z

Are they the same color? If any one knows I would appreciate the info.

Also my car was repainted in 1983 so the color should be very close to the original 302 green. If you need any new images of that color go to my cars website.

Here's 306 silver: First in the shadows then in then in the daylight.......

You should email those pics to mperdue. He's seeking pictures of that color for the paint code gallery.

EDIT: I guess I should have gone back and re-read the last line in his post.
