Hey All,

My window mechanism has some slop in it... The window hand crank will probably move about an inch either way without the window moving.

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the window mechanism to remove the slop??

Thanks for any advice you can lend.

It depends on whether it's the Crank Handle, the Splined Shaft that drives the Actuator Gear, the Actuator Gear or the Actuator Arm that has become worn.

Any one of those items will cause what you are experiencing.

To repair and eliminate the problem will require careful removal and replacement of the offending item(s).

Rats.... I was hoping all I needed to do was maybe replace the crank handles and that would take care of the problem :nervous:

Thanks for the info EScanlon....

The problem is hopefully in the plastic bushings on the mechanism. I have had that issue in several cars, and each time the bushings were worn out creating the slop.

They are rivetted on, but bolts can be used. I have replaced several of them with bushings from the hardware store(Home Depot sells them now)-you may have to buy a drawer pull and take it apart, but...

Will.
