January 9, 200718 yr Author comment_195226 More of a baseball fan really. Allegences alter from time to time. Always a soft spot for the Cubbies.I think the '70 needed an awful lot of work. But that and a '70 parts car, which I could get ahold of cheap, and you could have had a very inexpensive project. With the salvage title, it leaves an opening to really bastardize it. I am one of those that think a series one car is better off stock. Thats why I ended up with an extra '73. But, to each his own! Yeah I'm feeling you on that, that a '70 Z is best left stock. But my only dream now is to a have a '70 Z with a R34 RB26DETT GT-R engine in it I was seriously looking at that peticular Z only because it didn't have the original engine in it and ~in hind sight~ the hatch wasn't original either. Meaning i could ad a wing or spoiler to it without having to drill on a '70 hacth. Had i been thinking about a parts car for it I might of got it, but a car from San Francisco with that kind of surface rust usually means a whole lot of rust in hidden areas. But i trusted the guys description and tha extra pics he sent me backed it up. Jus wasn't sure how much money in body work I'd have to spend cause I never actually had to restore a car before and my local body shop was on vacation. But if the oppertunity should arise again I'll jump at it ~Z~ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22891-what-are-the-transmission-ratios-on-a-1970-1973-fairlady-z-five-speed/?&page=2#findComment-195226 Share on other sites
January 9, 200718 yr comment_195231 Ratios for the early Type A 5 speed are in the middle column of the attached spec chart.Interesting attachment. I had forgotten that the rear struts are referred to as 'Chapman' struts rather than McPherson like the fronts. Haven't seen or heard that term since 'back in the day' and I don't really recall what the difference is other that the rears were based on Brithsh racer Colin Chapman's design. And Happy Birthday, Arne! You're now a quintagenerian (sp?) as am I.
