Posted January 16, 200718 yr comment_195696 Hey everybody!I'm installing a speedometer cable tomorrow and not sure what the process is. (To be honest I'm not sure if there is no speedometer cable at all, or if it's just broken) Has anyone had experience installing one of these and if so, do you have any pointers? Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22948-speedometer-cable-install/ Share on other sites
January 16, 200718 yr comment_195698 Is it possible that your current speedometer cable is simply unattached at one end or the other? Why did you get a new cable if you don't even know if you have one? You can reach up under the dash to the back of the speedometer. The cable screws in to the middle of the back of the gauge. January 16, 200718 yr Author comment_195704 I bought a cable because the guy I bought the car from said it was bad and that I would need to install a new one. I'm assuming the cable has to go through the fire wall? If so where does it go through? January 16, 200718 yr comment_195761 The cable comes through a hole in the firewall between the brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder but down low.
