fusible link sizes

MC75Z

Recommended Posts

When I got my 77 280 someone had removed the fusible links on the engine compartment fender. I have put in 2 link holders and need to know what size to use. My 75 uses a black 1.25 mm (.049") and a green .5mm (.020"). My 77 has 4 fusible links, I guess 2 are replacing the shunt my 75 has. I have called around but nobody will tell me the size. They will sell them to me but pretend not to know the size. I would also like to know the size of the links on the battery cables. Thanks

Fusible Link Wire is usually sold by it's rated amperage, as reflected by it's color. Most people don't bother to know the associated size in square mm.

At any rate - I think you'll find the answer you need at:

Carl, Thanx so much for the link. If you have any more links about the electric system on the '77 Z could you let me know. The alternator & the regulator are brand new & has been tested & the battery is still not getting charged. The battery is also new. The positive cable has been unhooked & a test light has been put to the cable & the post & the light doesn't come on so there are no open circuits. Should I look into the ignition relay in the passenger compartment?
