Posted January 18, 200718 yr comment_195997 Well,I dropped my Z off two weeks ago at the body shop for very small repair and complete paint job. I drove by today just to check in and the car hasn't moved from the spot I left it. They did say 4-6 weeks, so yes Im frustrated over nothing, but was hoping they had at least started something, but hey 4 weeks left in their "time frame"It's not a "work in", so hopefully they will be finished on time.....I know, don't hold my breath. When it gets back I'll throw some pictures up. Randy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22972-two-weeks-and-nothingargggg/ Share on other sites

January 18, 200718 yr comment_196014 My first body guy quoted me about 2 weeks for new floor pans and rockers...After 2 months I would drop in to do my OWN work while they still picked away at it. Good luck and keep dropping in. I was always 'just in the area' or just 'dropping by to say hi', I didnt want to annoy them just in case they opted to rush or cut corners. Once its there, you're sort of at their mercy on the timeline.Zak Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22972-two-weeks-and-nothingargggg/#findComment-196014 Share on other sites

January 19, 200718 yr comment_196045 Get used to it. I'm not sure why, but, all body shops are the same. Of course they don't like it when you hold the check after the project is done either. January 19, 200718 yr comment_196047 Yup. In 30+ years of car and truck ownership, I've never had body and paint work of any kind that was completed on time. Not once.Oops! The shop that re-welded the tailgate hinge plate on the red 240Z for me last Fall met the deadline. No paint involved though... January 19, 200718 yr Author comment_196053 Yea, I kinda expected this would be the case. Can you imagine how successful a shop would be if they actually performed to the customers expectations.........then again, I guess the current shops are too busy to finish on time as it is. January 19, 200718 yr comment_196065 Good luck, I have been fairly lucky and only have had to wait a week longer with body shops. Is there any Z clubs in the Knoxville area. I grew up about an hour away in the Tri-Cities and am trying to move back up there? January 19, 200718 yr Author comment_196067 Hey Louis,Yes, we have the Smokey MTN Z club, you should be able to google it. It is a very active club from what I've seen so far, I just joined last month. I have family in Johnson City, so I know the area well. If you find yourself back in TN let me know and I'll meet you at the next meeting. Here's a link to the club:http://www.automedic.org/smzcc/Regards,Randy Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22972-two-weeks-and-nothingargggg/#findComment-196067 Share on other sites

You can only shorten the time element...so much. It takes 21 days to hatch a chick from an egg. If you try to speed up the process with heat...you get a hard cooked egg! It's a Catch-22 SQUARED!E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22972-two-weeks-and-nothingargggg/#findComment-196075 Share on other sites
January 19, 200718 yr comment_196079 No Enrique, that's not my point. I want the shop to take as much time as necessary to do the job right. But I would like them to be honest with me and give me a REALISTIC time estimate. If the job is going to take 12 weeks, tell me that up front. Don't tell me 4 weeks, and then make excuses. Just be honest with me. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/22972-two-weeks-and-nothingargggg/#findComment-196079 Share on other sites
