Top Car Movies

I'm building up a collection of videos and DVDs about favourite car movies; The kind that are either based on cars or heavily involve cars. You might call it a "Top 10" thing but I can't think of 10 yet.

My list:

Vanishing Point (1971)

Gran Prix (1966)

Smokey & the Bandit (1977)

The Great Race(1965)

I've seen Blues Brothers listed on some web sites, but I consider that more musically-oriented than car oriented. I haven't seen all the 2Fast movies yet, and I'm not really that much into rice.

Hmm, you left out Ronin and it has some great chase scenes in it...fraid that would make my list well before maximum overdrive.

I've never seen Ronin. I thought t was some kind of cop-drama thing.

What is the name of that movie that has the three Mini Coopers in it? A red one, a white one, and a blue one.

I remember now. It's 'The Italian Job'. The 1969 version not the 2003 remake though I've never seen the new one. You didn't include the remake of 'Gone in Sixty Seconds'. I liked it also but the oringinal Toby Halicki version is classic.

I'm going to make you all laugh. You said 'car related', how about "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". I was 13 when that came out and got real emotional when they were talking about throwing her into the "fire-re furnace", the car shakes in protest, giving thought that some cars are more of and about us than we think. Still a great car related musical for the grandkids.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this...but seriously, when I was a kid "CANNONBALL RUN" was the coolest car movie for a long time. It had a Lamborghini Countach in it and hot chicks driving fast.
