January 22, 200718 yr comment_196504 How about No Man's Land? It was from 1987 and starred Charlie Sheen. He was a car thief that stole only Porsches. It had some good chase scenes.Another car movie was Duel with Dennis Weaver from 1971 and was directed by Steven Spielberg. It was a made for TV movie, but was done very well and had some good suspence. January 22, 200718 yr comment_196506 to add another couple of Disney films-Herbie goes to Monte CarloCondorman (cheesy comedy, lot's of Porshe 911's being destroyed)The Great Race must be included! Here's whyhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059243/Then again, for the real thing-Dust to Glory which is about the Baja 1000, our continent's version of the Dakar Rally.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0386423/ Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23014-top-car-movies/?&page=3#findComment-196506 Share on other sites
January 22, 200718 yr comment_196508 How about 'Thunder Road'?http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052293/Trivia: All of the "moonrunner" cars in the film had actually been used by moonshiners in the Asheville, North Carolina, area, where the film was shot. The moonshiners sold the cars to the film company in order to buy newer and faster cars. January 22, 200718 yr Author comment_196512 Do they still run the Baja 100 race? I haven't heard of, or seen it in years. Even the Dakar rally is gretting kind of obscure lately. Too much riceage lately.thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23014-top-car-movies/?&page=3#findComment-196512 Share on other sites

January 23, 200718 yr comment_196642 Do they still run the Baja 1000 race? I haven't heard of, or seen it in years. Even the Dakar rally is gretting kind of obscure lately. thxYes and yes. Dakar highlights have been on Speed channel for a few weeks, and Baja is doing very well. Rally coverage in the US has never been good, quite surprising what with the success of the Evo and WRX.I didn't see Tucker on your list, perhaps that should be included. The World's Fastest Indian would be worth checking out, even though it deals more with motorcycles (more specifically A Motorcycle), its got some great Bonneville salt flat footage. January 24, 200718 yr comment_196668 I remember now. It's 'The Italian Job'. The 1969 version not the 2003 remake though I've never seen the new one. I've seen the remake and it's actually pretty good. I have to admit though that Handsome Rob is my favorite character in the movie. January 24, 200718 yr comment_196704 Some Aussie car movies are: "The Big Steal" - about a kid that buys a Jaguar of a dodgey car yard (traded in a Nissan Cedric for it). He gets ripped off, then gets revenge."Metal Skin" think it was about street racing, kids with nothing to do, disaffected youth, blah blah, etc. I don't think it was any good.I remember a movie I saw once on TV, years ago, way back when I was in high school. I think it was called "Better off dead" and starred John Cusack. He was in high school and was fixing up a 60's Camaro, but it wasn't drivable so he had to get around in a wagon with wood paneling. I remember it because I was in high school too and fixing up my first 240z, and had a XY falcon wagon. January 26, 200718 yr comment_196914 While it might be on the fringe of "car movies," Repo Man should be included, or at least considered. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23014-top-car-movies/?&page=3#findComment-196914 Share on other sites
January 26, 200718 yr Author comment_196916 Instead of Repo Man, I'd suggest Used Cars. I'm kinda partial to that one. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23014-top-car-movies/?&page=3#findComment-196916 Share on other sites
January 26, 200718 yr comment_196924 Did I miss this one? CARS...the latest Disney animation...this was incredibly good and I'm not a big Disney guy...and the 2003 Italian Job was definitley every bit as good as the original 69 movie. Gee, imagine that a MINI Cooper movie being plugged on a Z forum.. Winning, a Paul Newman Indy car flick from the mid 60s wasn't half bad either. And if you haven't seen Speedway the IMAX film by the Andrettis you ain't seen nuthin yet...
