In the Black Dragon Auto mag, are the crossed-drilled disc brakes any good and worth the extra few dollars? I think $160 for a pair. Or should I just go with the standard brakes that Black Dragon offers?

My friend told me to not get aftermarket cross-drilled brakes and they crack, and I was not sure if those brakes are aftermarket cross-drilled or not.

Cross drilled brakes do tend to crack. And if you intend to put the car on the track, where they build excessive heat, they WILL crack and could break apart. If you need the extra cooling, the better choice would be to do the Toyota 4x4 brake conversion with the 300ZX vented rotors.

For a street driven car you'll be just fine! However, do install good HP type street pads for the best results.

By HP type Tom means Hawk HP pads (big assumption, as he may just mean high performance) . A properly working stock brake system with a good brake pad are more than sufficient for street use. When I refurbished my entire front end, I opted for Powerslot rotors, Hawk HP pads and SS brake lines. Now, I am eternally grateful for locking seltbelts whenever I get hard on my brakes.

Thanks Bo, you are correct on your assumption. I just happen to have the slotted rotors, SS lines, and HP pads as well......sure do work really well!!!

not trying to hijack the thread here, but i am trying to get a '74 260 back on the road, and i wonder if this set up will work for mine?

also, what year Toyota calipers to buy? will i have to do any major changes on my 260 to make this work?
