76Datsun280z Posted February 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 3, 2007 The color of this car really caught my attention, I sent this guy a message asking him what shade and brand of silver he used on it because I'm trying to get some ideas on some shades of silver for my car which will get painted this summer.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STUNNING-240Z-CONFERENCE-BUILT-ENGINE-5-SPD_W0QQitemZ200073416045QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
daddz Posted February 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 3, 2007 That sunroof just ruined the whole car for me. Other than that the car looks really nice.

Wobbles1971 Posted February 3, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 3, 2007 Car looks nice, but not sure I would pay 9k for it. Guess its all about the whole ebay thing and someone in the heart of no-Z land wanting it. Thats cool tho, because I know the frustration on not getting what you want when you want it, I guess that part of some crazy economical thingy I have failed to except yet. sblake01 Posted February 3, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 3, 2007 Well, I guess that I've accepted it. At my age, I refuse to pay more for something than I personally think it's worth. Getting what you want when you want it is not always and option. Besides, that can cause one to lower their standards somewhat.
lonetreesteve Posted February 3, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 3, 2007 Personally, I'm glad to see the car bring over $9k. I've noticed that a lot 240s are going for more money on Ebay lately and that's good news for all of us.
Carl Beck Posted February 3, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 3, 2007 If they are actually selling... With hidden bidder I.D. you no longer have a right to know who your bidding against. The sellers brother, wife or mother could be bidding the price higher and higher.. Either to get you to raise your bid, or bid you up to the sellers real selling price.Bidding on E-Bay took a serious turn for the worse when they started hidding the bidder's ID's. I wouldn't buy anything there - it was bad enough before just taking a change on the car....FWIW,Carl
WingZr0 Posted February 3, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 3, 2007 SO YOU LIKE SILVER HUH I suggest you check out the 1998 JDM Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo 2by2 in Sonic Silver Metallic. One of my favorite colors Here are some pics. The best match I could find for you is here off of Veilside.com http://veilside.com/ ~check the Japan site too and use your GOOGLE toolbar web page translater~ The C-1 body kit is pretty much spot on, depending on what light your in. The rear view has the best light for perfect match. Along with the EC-1 kit Which looks like Sonic Silver towards night time, as indicated with the headlights on ~_^ The C-2 is my favorite but I'd paint it in Sonic Silver Metallic although this Blueish Silver is nice . Theres just somthing I don't like about those side skirts though on the C-2. Am I right or am I just tripping? Anyway if you like those colors give Veilside a call and they can help you on what colors they used. You may have to contact thier Japan Office where most of thier JDM stuff is built but It'll be worth your time to have the color combination on your list for later in case you decide either way And remember, ~FORTUNE FAVORS THE BRAVE~ Other colors and makes that may interest you. http://veilside.com/veilsideusa/frames.html ~Z~:tapemouth

DeesZ Posted February 3, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 3, 2007 I agree. Getting what I want when I want it is not always an option - for me anyway. I must focus on "needs" first, and there is always a list of those that takes priority over "wants. There are those who have the means to get whatever they want when they want it at any cost. Money removes the need to exercise patience. All ebay needs is two or more of them and we're off to the races! The bright spot in that I guess is that factor of enjoyment. Those of us that skrimp to get something seem to enjoy it more and take better care of it. By the same token, without that "dearness", whatever those folks buy at a high price often hits the market and gets resold at a lower more reasonable price. Heck, that's how I fell into the Z I have now..... a guy threw money at it, imported from the West Coast to East, drove it for a year, fixed many issues, and got tired of it shortly thereafter. He didn't even have enough interest to make up a good listing for eBay when he sold it. That cost him a bundle - bought high & sold low, but he just didn't care; had to move on to something else and had no patience when he needed room in the garage. Should we call this the "capitalistic free market system redistribution of wealth"? I find having to wait frustrating, but the eventual ownersgip very gratifying. (I'm heading out to buy a PowerBall ticket now.... the older I get, the less time I have to wait for things.)

Go240Zags Posted February 4, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 4, 2007 Usually I noticed that when the auction is over all Bidder id's are revealed to let you know who was all bidding. I guess thats only what I noticed in regards to Items that were on my watch list. Can anybody else confirm this.I thought pretty much the same as you did Beck until I noticed this little ID revelation thing happening.~Z~I'm going to have to put some cars on my Watch List and test out this theory. I went back and looked at some completed auctions (not on my Watch List) and the bidders' identities were still hidden. Don't like it. I do like eBay for the ability to sell parts and other items I have and reach multi-thousands of customers I would not be able to reach living in the boonies. It also gives me access to parts I need which I can't find in local wrecking yards or without traveling to a more urban area. However, prices on things like Series I ashtrays, etc. are becoming well beyond my current means. I am leery of any "Private Auctions" as well as eBay's new no bidder name car auctions for the reasons given above. Also would want to make sure the car in question had no rust issues being it's from the west (pronounced 'wet') side of our state, but if I was that interested there are several members that live close enough they might offer to check it out. However, price is way too rich for my blood. It is a nice color and does look to be a nice overall car.
