Posted February 4, 200718 yr comment_198013 Hey y'all, I'm new on here. I just bought a 240Z last Fall that I'm in the process of fixing up. I want to get the car painted this Spring but I'm trying to decide whether to just buy bumpers (currently doesn't have them) or maybe a bodykit with the integrated bumpers, maybe something like the MSA2 kit. I'm leaning towards just getting the bumpers (maybe Euro...or carbon fiber) and maybe a small front air dam...that way it'll maintain the classic, clean look. Any opinions or suggestions out there on this? Here are some current pics: And oh yeah......GO BEARS!!!!!! February 4, 200718 yr comment_198028 Hello Mike, welcome to the club. That's a nice looking Z car you have there. Finding bumpers for a '73 can be challenging, the '73 bumpers are different from all other years. You may consider using bumpers from an earlier 240z. If you do, you will need the bumper and the mounts from the earlier Z.For a more modern look, a body kit may be the way to go. Look through the photo gallery for ideas, hopefully you'll see something you like. Some folks prefer to keep a Z stock, some like to get radical. In the end, it is your car, so make it the way you want it. The Z car makes a great vehicle for self expression! February 4, 200718 yr comment_198041 Nice car. I like the wheels. Those factory alloys are getting harder and harder to find. I have them on my 78. They're shown as optional for the earlier models like yours but I never see them on anything but 77-78s. Some even wrongly refer to them as the Black Pearl Edition wheels. Anyway, if it was me, I'd try to find the 73 bumpers and keep it original. JMO. February 7, 200718 yr Author comment_198442 Well, I've decide not to get the full body kit and go more for the classic look. IMO, 240Zs are too good looking to tamper with too much. Anyway, I'm gonna find some bumpers and I ordered a Xenon front air dam yesterday. From what I can gather, there are three options as far as bumpers:1) Euro style chrome bumpers: look great but expensive.2) Carbon fiber: According to MSA, these are designed for 70-72 240Zs so you have to buy the early 240Z brackets and adjust accordingly.3) Fiberglass: these are the cheapest, but just like the CF bumpers, they're designed for the early 70-72 Zs so you have to buy the early Z brackets.Anyone have any experience or opinions on the various bumpers?
