February 10, 200718 yr comment_198731 CHECK FOR RUST! it might have great paint, but there are some sneaky rust spots that you will kick yourself for. check the floorpans, battery tray, and right inside the hatch area.anyway, i recommend keeping the 2.6L unless you're going just for performance. February 10, 200718 yr comment_198734 depends on if you want to do it yourself or want it professionally done. i haven't rebuilt my L yet, so i can't give you hard numbers. to get things done right i'd say 1000 (someone chime in here)but then you'd have a very reliable and powerful motor... February 10, 200718 yr comment_198760 Welcome to the forum. The cost depends on who does it and whether you're going for stock or planning on pumping it up. I've seen quotes from $1250-$4000 and more. Best thing to do is to first decide on what you want to do with the car, and then start calling around and taking to the shops.
