Wow, thanks for all this information, it seems like you know my repairer. His shop is close to my town, hes got about 50 Z cars there... It seems.

But yeah, I am reading up on this fuel injection book, I never really knew anything about the engine of the car, but with this, I can learn almost everything. Thanks!!!

Im going to print out all the info u guys gave me and look it over. Because I cant do it myself. :stupid:

Again, thanks for the info and replies, you guys rule. Oh, and thanks for the offer for the $30 one, but my mom already paid for a new one..... Owell, ill just cross my fingers on the ECM.

My bet is for rich running, corrosion on thermal sensor in the thermostat housing. Car thinks it's cold out, runs on cold start circuit and smokes black. in some cases like mentioned above, the connector can work loose (hidden kind of beneath upper radiator hose) and cause the engine to literally flood itself with gas. I had it happen coming out of the top corner at Willow Springs, and the car just died.

Rich is bad. Clean all connections and see what happens. Usually if an ECU goes out, you don't run at all---running rich is not a failure mode of a bad ECU.

If you want to read up on the fuel injection stuff that YOU can do, go to the AtlanticZ.ca tech section and read the in the Fuel System column for AFM & adjustments, cleaning, TPS adjust, AAR check, and the electrical stuff in the Engine column.

Then go read the rest.

The re-read things some more.

If that guy has 50 Zs, are they all HIS?

or are those from customers who brought them back becase they're still not fixed right :lick:

(just kidding.)

I think Tony is right about the ECU- if it wasn't working, the engine wouldn't be running. They're so simple; all transistors & no microchips, and nothing to adjust.

thx

Last time I was there and I asked him about them, he said some were in for repair from customers, but most were used for parts. I'd say there's probably over 50.
