Mike, I have to be honest with you, like Stickerman, I had my doubts that you would end up with the car and the local person would get it. But I'm really glad to hear you stuck with it and got the car! There's another '69 production car on Ebay right now (#387), located in Texas that Helopilot spotted. I hope my post did not come off wrong, I am glad you got it. I just figured the seller would be like most sellers, and take the easy way out. I know most people would just sell it to the local guy, so there would not be the hassle of the shipping involved.

My bet is he wanted it to go to a good home, like most of us do when we sell stuff. Money isn't everything.

McCrack - you mentioned that you know of this car. It looks like you are located in FL but the car in in the NY/NJ area. How do you know of it?

I know of this car. It is not a restored car. If it was it's a real bad job. No emissions has european balance tube. I can see this car costing from head to toe about 20 grand to do it correctly.

I've made several purchases on cars and even my house where the item had been on the market for some time but by some coincidence another person also puts in a bid at the same time mine goes in - I believe that this is often just a ploy to get more money out of my wallet. Or maybe I'm just a paranoid tight wad. :paranoid:

I started selling cars in 1963 when a friend of mine's Mother purchased the local Pontiac/Olds Dealership (it's a long story). Having just been graduated from High School, I needed a summer job...

Then later I worked my way through College selling cars and working in bars.

One of the first things the New & Used Car Sales Manager told me was - "never believe what any customer tell you - they all lie through their teeth when it comes to making a deal on a car. They all think that it's OK to lie to the salesmen, because they have all been told that all car salesmen are dishonest, or it's just horse trading."

Being a kid, I thought he may have had a point, but still believed that basically people were honest.. by the end of the summer I knew he was absolutely correct. People would patch or attempt to cover-up known problems with their trades (yes, fine sawdust in an A/T that was shot, stop-leak in radiators that were shot, etc.).

The bottom line is - what goes around comes around. Used car salesmen can be just as dishonest as the public they deal with - only they get far better at it because they get to practice every day.

The truth is most used car salesmen don't need to resort to outright dishonest practices, only because the average buyer is so stupid they don't understand the ramifications of the truth when they hear it...da...

Yeah, I noticed that before I bought the car. I've already bought a replacement series one speedometer and some other parts for it. The car ships on Monday so I should have it by mid-March.
