Posted February 19, 200718 yr comment_199869 I order a speedo cable for my 240z from VB. they send me one like this. I can't seem to get the white part to fit in the back of the speedometer. Have anyone installed one of these on their and can tell me how to install it.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240z-260z-280z-Speedometer-Cable-Assembly-NEW_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6763QQhashZitem220081220700QQihZ012QQitemZ220081220700QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVWThanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23341-speedometer-cable/ Share on other sites

February 20, 200718 yr comment_199883 Are you sure the white part goes to the speedo? IIRC it's the gray metal sleeve that goes to the speedo and the white that goes to the tranny.2¢E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23341-speedometer-cable/#findComment-199883 Share on other sites
February 20, 200718 yr comment_199892 I am sure that on my 4 speed, the grey serrated "co-ax" style end goes on the tranny. That may be a problem if you have the thing in backwards. I have to edit my orignal reply, I thought you had this problem: you don't have the correct colored splined cog for your 5 speed. The original 4 speeds have the white cog, I believe you need the black one for your early 5 speed... But I didn't read your post of your problem correctly, so forget it!
