Anybody have any idea what month in 1971 that Nissan offred the am/fm radio rather then only the AM Radio. The reason I ask is that I have a am/fm Bowman aftermarket radio that was installed by the dealer in January 71. I am seeing on ebay that some people list for sale an original am/fm radio and state that it is from a 1971 Datsun. I wish to keep original, so if this occured late in the year, I am stuck with purchasing only the am radio. Last one went on ebay for $325, and it went to the same person that bought the last three that were for sale on ebay. Somebody is buying them that is located 30 miles north of San Diego, so I figure I know who that is.

Randy, The parts CD isn't clear on this. It simply lists three "kits" - the AM radio, as well as two different AM/FM radios - as fitting "up to 7/73".

If the factory AM/FM choice was ever factory installed in any '71s, it must have been VERY late - my 7/71 has the normal signal-seeking AM radio.

But the Hitachi AM/FM may well have been a dealer option in '71. The Bowmans were also dealer offered, but might have been a higher profit item. I recall that the '74 B210 my wife owned had a Bowman radio in it.

The '72 that I just acquired still has the stock Hitachi AM/FM.

As far as I know and what I have seen, all Series I and II cars were equipped with the stock Hitachi AM radio until the Series III was released in 9/71 ('72 model) with the Hitachi AM/FM radio. Carl Beck probably knows if this is case or not.
