Jag rearend

Has anyone looked into A jag rear end ?

I had A buddy over talking about doing A disc set up on the rear of my Z. He asked if I had looked into the jag irs rearend.

After looking this over I think this may be the ticket. With the v-8 going in this will hold the HP. and look @ where the brakes are at.

I dont see it as cheap. But I think you also need to keep in mind what the cost of A corvette irs + the headache of mounting the disc brake.

This just looks like one nice/neat set-up.

On the cost so far online I have found them starting @ $1200.00

I can do better I am sure.

Biggest downfall I see trying to use one on a Z would be the fact that you would have to fabricate the crossmembers to mount the front of the rear and the rear crossmember for the coil over shocks you would need to use. Not a good thing if you want to keep the Z in somewhat original condition. If you are planning extensive mods anyway it is feasible. I have an old issue of Hot Rod magazine where they took a Z and put a V-8 in it and fabricated a four link and used a 9 inch Ford rear end. It was a really sweet looking car when they finished, with the body mods they did it was a good looking car, even if it was in Hot Rod.:ermm:

True on the crossmember. I am talking with A shop here that is helping me with this. They said they may be able to fab A subframe that could use most of the stock mounting places. Then if I wanted to change back it wouldnt be A ton of work. I will find out more later in the week.

So far the cheapest I have found is $800.00 & still looking.
