They are R32 Skyline GT-R factory mags, and yes, the message has been puzzling gai-jin Skyline owners for many years now.

My R31 mags say "Wind blows from west" though I don't know if they are factory or not.

Sorry to be "taking a stab in the dark" here. wind blows from west sounds like a line from an ancient zen poem or something. like from the time when farmers and fishermen constantly observe and relate to weather patterns. bieng on wheel/ tire copmonent all i can guess here is "high pressure system".(or low for all i know):stupid: i dont know why, but my brain wont let these "riddles" lay to rest. i will shut up now have fun all!

Is there a way to tell by eye that they are GT-R mags, and not painted GTS ones?

Tack this one up into the category of "lost in translation" category. Having worked with and lived with people who don't speak English as their first language I can tell you some things just don't translate.

Hell, even when I lived in South Africa where they speak English I had to tone down my "Texas Twang" cause people couldn't understand me. In fact, my English is now so neutral that most people don't believe me when I tell them I am originally from Texas.

Those certainly are an interesting set of wheels none the less.
