76Datsun280z Posted March 18, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 18, 2007 I'm not real big into 2+2 Z's, but I hardly hear of them spoken of on here and see them in the gallery and was kind of curious how many of you own one?
boyblunda Posted March 18, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2007 I have got two on the road and FWIW I believe they are an excellent touring car on our rural roads for the extra wheelbase they have. I also appreciate the passenger carrying space for rugrats. However, I am looking out for a good 2 seater body as a project car and believe that 2 seaters are a better car for a full restoration from the point of view of holding their value. CANDYBLUE2+2 Posted March 18, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 18, 2007 Mine is a 74.5. I've owned it since Spring 88. Was a one owner and in excellent condition then and still is now, after a four year resto.Did the MOD thing though, the 260 needed carburation help the day it left the factory. I plan on putting some pics in the gallery soon as the weather breaks for more then a few hours.
hornz Posted March 22, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2007 I just purchased a 1978 2+2 and would like to hear anyone's opinion of them...good or bad. Is there anything that I should beware of?
hls30.com Posted March 22, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 22, 2007 They aren't as fast(unless you drop in an L28et!), they are more comfortable on a trip, but do sacrifice a wee bit of handling, but you have a Z you can put 2 adults and two childeren, or 11 college students into!I had a '76 as my first car-added the L28et and 15x8" rims after several years-Only a Grand National could beat me after that...A 240z is more sheer excitement,a 2 seat 280Z is more refined, but not as exciting to drive, and a 2+2 is less exciting still in standard form, but it is a Z, and there is a great deal to be said about that! An enjoyable car until you put a 240Z through its paces-unless you need the extra space. Now with two small childeren, it would be nice to take the entire family to a Z outing in one...Will
red_dog007 Posted March 22, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 22, 2007 I have always wanted a 280zx 2+2 w/ T-Tops as a daily driver. Have it my Luxery ride with A/C and all the other little goodies that it has and that I would add. Plus have it automatic too. Love the manual, but an Auto is nice from time to time. Would be nice to even drop the 3800 Series II supercharged motor in there with the 4-Speed Auto to get it a little more power for driving through traffic if I don't want the L28ET intercooled instead. Then have my 240z as my weekend ride.
