Don't have the 260 diagram, but if it's connected to the Black / White wire coming from the coil, then it may be the resistor that's by the coil to drop the voltage at the points once the car is running. If you trace the wiring to it on the diagram, the resistor is bypassed while the starter is engaged, and current then flows through it once the car has started and the ignition switch is in the RUN mode.

The FSM shows a resister in the blue wire from the tach to the coil negative .It,s a single pigtail wire male-female connection where the harness passes through the firewall.Resistance checks @ 2.17k ohms
