Posted March 28, 200718 yr comment_203849 http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/infiniti_g37.aspNot much of an increase as I was expecting. Basically no difference in torque, and now only 24hp more compared to the new VQ35HR that is found in the new 350z / G35. Supposed to have better fuel economy and emissions. I just hope that it isn't like 1mpg average difference. I don't really get the shift from the 3.5L to the 3.7L when the new 3.5L is only 24hp shy of the 3.7L and the 3.7L offers no torque gains of any kind. I wonder what is going on inside of Nissan. So, does this mean that a 370z is around the corner? I honestly hope not unless the 370z is lighter and a little nicer looking. Plus is the new Skyline a go? This 3.7L is supposed to push 480hp in that ride, and the concepts do look pretty hot.I just wish that Nissan went back to the Inline-6 with their Z series, but I will be a little bit more happy when they eventually work their way up to a V8 motor. March 28, 200718 yr comment_203864 Man, that's a beauty... No matter what they did with the engine, the car looks a lot better. Is the G37 supposed to replace the G35? March 28, 200718 yr comment_203873 Nissan is already playing around with a 4.5 Liter V8 engine in their Super GT(Formerly JGTC) Fairlady Z GT500 car. Here is a pic of the beast. Engine. A special VK race engine based off of the M45 engine. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/23750-infinity-g37/#findComment-203873 Share on other sites
March 28, 200718 yr comment_203874 Also a special Nismo Z will be sold in the US this summer. It will have a 3.8 Liter engine. Lets just say the jury is out on the styling. Especially the rear. Especially the rear.Got the new Road and Track yesterday. They had a very small article on the Nismo Z. It does NOT come with a 3.8 according to them. 3.5 with a 5 horse increase. They mention a 400 horse 3.8 that was in a racing series Fairlady but they questioned why Nissan didn't drop that into the Nismo Z. R&T did praise the car for its balance, brakes and new looks. I actually like the new nose and the crazy rear lower fascia. FWIW,Chris A. March 30, 200718 yr comment_204144 I wonder if the G37, GT-R and the next Z (Z34?) will be all based on the same chassis like the current z33/g35 coupe. Seems like a logical move to save costs. March 31, 200718 yr comment_204252 The rear diffuser is way too angular for a car that has such a rounded backside. I understand that the design stems from extensive testing and that a more rounded design might not perform to the same level, but I still don't like it.
