WingZr0 Posted March 28, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 28, 2007 Yeah, I saw that. After going over the photos, The dash cap is wack, The steering wheel is done ~as in finished~ and the underbody consist of Panasports with heavy overspray on ~Surface rust reused suspension pieces~. Esentially I think It's a ok Z with a Darn good paint job. Figure you can take a bucket, hual it to Maco and get tha same results for half the price OK..... Maybe it's jus when I hear the word RESTORED when I'm looking at Old "came with the car" door panels and counsel pieces is why I'm being so hard on it :hurt: . I'm I alone in this? ~Z~
hls30.com Posted March 28, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 28, 2007 looks like a $5-7k modified car to me, absolutely NOT a restored car. A "frame up restoration" includes the frame, running gear, and none of that has been touched other than to apply some undercoating...I see the potential for too many issues under too much gloss!Rust in the rear fenderwells-and viods...tweaked rear bumperoil all over the engine(wiped to expose blue paint, but not thoroughly cleaned...as mentioned the dash coverwrong rear strut coveringHatch and hood are not fitted properlyserious chips in the paint of the clockfresh undercoating on old paint(underside of the car)Crack at the core supportnewer shift bootaftermarket shift knobmissing emblemsaftermarket Parted hatch carpet-could be a later body with the tool binsincorrect power antennawrong lock on gas filler doorThis car would need some serieous going over... jmark Posted March 28, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 28, 2007 A couple of things I see is those are Konig Rewinds not Panasports. I like the paint job. Look at their feedback. Buyer beware!
240ZX Posted March 28, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 28, 2007 Certainly not a restored car. Even the paint job doesn't do it justice....if you look really close at the photo of the hatch/240Z tag you can see what appears to be either orange peel or just poor prep work. And as we all know, photos tend to hide all sorts of imperfections. Did anyone notice the broken off or missing grease zert on the drivers side steering rod joint....there is one on the other side however! Basically......a set of new wheels and paint job do not warrant the asking $10K start bid. Why can't people just be honest about what they are attempting to sell??? Exdamyankee Posted March 28, 2007 Share #6 Posted March 28, 2007 Decent car, but no $10K specimen. I'd probably not balk at paying $7K or so, to me at least it appears to be worth that.
=Enigma= Posted March 28, 2007 Share #7 Posted March 28, 2007 Anyone notice what looks like the effects of cancerous rust on the outer rim of the left rear wheel well?
bpilati Posted March 29, 2007 Share #8 Posted March 29, 2007 Panasports are overrated.

240ZGL Posted March 29, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 29, 2007 Interior is not even close, dash cap come-on, rusted exhaust, I would hate to see what the motor looks like, rusted wheel arches, 29 thou. miles I doubt it. Someones going to get bit
bpilati Posted March 29, 2007 Share #11 Posted March 29, 2007 The carpet is not correct, the vinyl is missing from the transmission tunnel. The logo is missing from the hood, and the vinyl on the strut towers doesn't look right. Where are the cargo straps? I thought in the hatch 240Z logo, the Z was chrome, and how about that shift knob? Is this a Canadian model with the foglight switch over the hazard switch? The seat covers are wrong and something looks odd about the oil press gage. The early gages only went up to 90 psi? I think there's an oil leak somewhere on the engine.
76Datsun280z Posted March 29, 2007 Share #12 Posted March 29, 2007 Makes me wonder why there aren't any photo's of the engine! The seat covers are wrong and something looks odd about the oil press gage. The early gages only went up to 90 psi?The oil pressure guage looks stock to me, I can see that it goes up to 90.
