Should I sell my ANSA Resonator?

YO~

I was wondering should I sell one of my 70's ANSA Resonators and use the proceeds to buy another ANSA in a different style I don't have yet :beard: .

Or should I pony up the funds to buy the new ANSA out of pocket and still keep this one in the collection too.

I'm trying to save money still for a 1970 Z hence my delema at hand.

I like the Dual Stack Slash Style and kind of don't want to sell it.

So it might go up on EBAY if I decide to keep my Z funds :ermm: .

These are photo of my ANSA.

The one i'm thinking of selling is still

in Factory vacumed sealed shrink wrap.

Any advice would be great as allways

Hello all,

I tried to find out more on this 70's piece.

I just got off the phone with Motor Sport Auto ~MSA~ and they told me that this style is no longer availible anymore either seperate or with the Targa System which is also now discontinued.

P/N 15-6031 (Resonator in the Targa System set up) is not as pictured in the catalog and really is a Side by Side design instead of Twin Stacked.

Also of note the sales rep on the phone said these MSA Resonators that THEY sell were NOT made by ANSA MARMITTE but were instead made by a completly different company called B&C Industries located near Orange California.

He also said ANSA at one point did go out of bussines then came back under new ownership but I can't confirm this on the Net yet.

Some research did say they were popular upgrades in 1970 to 1973 on 240Z's then on 260 and 280z when they came out.

ANSA (Ligit, Original) stop making these around 20 years or so as far as I can tell.

My only regret is having less than 1 than I really need :( :tapemouth :hurt:

Inlet Diameter is 2 1/3 inches and both tips are 2 1/3 inches each with an inside outlet diameter of 1.1 inches for a combined total outlet Dia of 2.2 inches.

I've included photos with measurements of my ANSA and pics from the MSA catalog incase you like to give them a Call as well and confirm what was said.

p.s. Dsport is the worlds best magizine (shameless plug :cheeky: ) http://dragsport.com/index.shtml

I used to have that setup from Motorsport on my stock 240 about 15 + years ago. It was a cool upgrade, but limiting for exhaust flow. Sounds good/ different too as you can guess. Fine for a mild or stock motor, I would think it would definetly be a bit restrictive on a hotter motor.

Awesome ^_^

I wondered from time if anyone else had these. What's your desription of the sound it makes, haven't hook one up before myself yet.

I thought about much the same.

I have an even number of these and was thinking if I ran a Nismo 3 into 2 race header with twice pipes all the way back (without premuffler or anything in between header and Resonator) then each pipe could have it's own Resonator and the restriction would be relieved.

Really wanting to use them with a RB26DETT Nissan Skyline GT-R engine swap, kickin 600 horsepower, and figured twice pipes with each pipe having it's own Res would work for that too :classic:

Not to sure how loud it will sound with just straight pipes or even if I'll destroy the Resonator.

Some say no premuffler is not good while others say they last for years with no problem :ermm: I'm leaning towards the 2nd statement.

What do you guys think on this setup?

Never heard of ANSA though untill I found these and They look exactly like my DREAM muffler :classic:

I only hope they sound like it too, A High Winding Fast pitched sound to go along with a High Winding Fast Reving enigine (somewhere around 8 to 10,000rpm's 11K redline sounds right) :rambo:  .

Its been a long time, but would say the tone is more mid-toned. Less throaty than a traditional turbo muffler, but certainly not a high pitched sound like I thought it to be. My friend had something like this on a small v6 (capri), and it made a nice higher pitched sound, so thought I would achieve this on the Z, but didn't.

When I got my 280 there was a cheep muffler that leaked and we all know where that goes  One day I stopped at a muffler shop and had them put a side by side Resonator with the stock pre-muffler. I like the sound to me it sounds like a European car. a>

I see that JC Wintney has some up to 2 1/2 inlet.
