The attached photos should give some clarity to the description of the 1973 Antenna. I believe the unit is original, and I imagine Harada was the manufacturer. There are no visible identifying marks to indicate that though.

You will see that the Mast is approx 30cm (1ft) long when retracted.

Thank you for your help. I hope one day to find the replacement Mast. Unfortunately many parts for our cars are NIL stock everywhere I try.

Regards

Jack

Thanks for that. As we say "You never know your luck". I shall look forward to hearing from you.

As I have said, I don't know the Part No for the replacement Mast, so it is a little hard to be precise about the Item. I know the complete Antenna I bought on eBay LOOKED the same, but has a shorter Mast and a slightly different mounting arrangement. It also has a third wire - I assume for automatic operation. Mine certainly doesn't have that extra wire. It works, so will keep me out of trouble for awhile I hope.

Thank you again

Regards, Jack

Zs-Ondabrain,

Thanks for your offer to help! I did some searching and was able to find the antenna you mentioned on the shelf here locally (Best Buy) for under $60.00, PLUS I realized I had $25.00 of Best Buy Bucks in my wallet!

It looks really straightforward to install (the key being the strap they include to cut/bend to fit!). I will be putting this one in this weekend and I have an appt. at the local car-audio place to install the head unit next Tuesday!

It will be sooo nice to travel with tunes!! (might even make me forget about the fumes!!) haha!!!

I will be heading to Z Specialties hopefully Tuesday afternoon to buy some asst stuff (including rear hatch weatherstrip, maybe the fumes will be a thing of the past!!) and then on to the ZCCW club meeting at Performance Nissan.

Thanks again for your generous offer!

Regards,

Astrohog

What kind of radio and what are you paying for it. You do know that That's what I do right? I am an NECP certified car stereo installer. I've been doing it for almost 20 years now.

How about this one, for only $300. AM/FM/DVD/CD Video inputs as well as outputs, motorized face, 3.6" monitor built into the face. ANd plenty more, I'll find a picture in a minute

Dave,

Excuse my ignorance!!! No, I did not know you did car audio! Otherwise, I wouldn't have made my appointment here! Send me a P.M. and let me know if you have any experience w/ the Soundstream products. I am not familiar with that brand, however, it looks like that one has it all!!! (no kitchen sink???)

I can (and will) cancel my appt. here if you have units there and we can hook up sometime next week while I am on vacation (preferably Tuesday, April 10).

P.M. me the details, cost, avail, etc. I will check my P.M. throughout the day as I can get Wifi, and I will get back to you!!

Regards,

Astrohog

Zs-ondabrain.

Just checking to see if you had any luck with the "Antenna Rod Kit" for the 240Z. I found a photo of such a Nissan Part/Box etc, but the photo is not clear enough to read Part No's however.

I am finding the new menu a bit of a worry. I don't expect to get back to the Forums everyday and miss being able to access the older Post/Forums etc. Can anyone help??

Regards, Jack

Here's what I have found so far.

METRA Part number 44-PWHD94 is a fuly automatic power antenna but it has a 31" (79cm) 5-section replacable mast and a 12" (30cm Cable) but I think the cable is the antenna coax.

When I was looking in my book I was focusing on the 30cm part that you mentions but the book only tells me how many sections and how long it is when extended.

They might be a big help so here's their number 1-800-221-0932

I'll keep looking though,

Dave.
