My 240z Has a leak in the windshield weather stripping and I was wondering if this something that can be done easily and who I should buy the weather stripping from, same goes for the felt inbetween the windows on the driver's and passenger's side door. This is kinda off topic but what do you guys think the best repair manual for the 240z and do they have one for individual years?

Thanks!

I've bought the kit from http://weatherstripspecial.com/ before, they also sell everything separately. You can normally buy everything on-line but I just checked and they have this posted under the 240Z Purchase link,

"Due to product supply issues please call or e-mail for availability.

Thank you"

You can also check Motorsport at http://www.zcarparts.com/

here is the link for the weather striping from them,

http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SWR01

If you want I can e-mail you their catalog via e-mail in the PDF format, they have all the different weather striping listed in there.

Graham, It depends on what you are doing with your Z . If you want to replace all the seals then the kit is the way to go . Piece meal is much more spendy. Motorsport , black dragon , too intense restoration . all have what you need . The best manual is the Nissan shop manual . Other than that How to Restore Your Datsun Z car is a close second by Wick Humble , check B Dalton's Books. There are more than one supplier of seals and I used precision seals. The professional installer for my windshield told me that they were the best , softer and sealed better. I used the kit from Motorsport and found them to be 1st rate. However I replaced all the seals , windows doors hatch everything. Gary

Hey Graham haven't seen you around for a bit and my car is flooded at the moment. So needing to get that fixed very badly, curious what you decided to go with, heading out to z therapy tomorrow but will give you a call if you don't see this.

Also mine seems to be leaking from the lower part of the door coming in from the flat spot on the door nearest the hinge that has a rubber thing there that isn't doing anything really.

I just replaced those on my '78. They were cracked, and one even had a huge chunk missing. I bought a new pair from Black Dragon Auto, and they still leak. It's really frustrating, because I can't think of anything else to do, other than adding some extra door seal strips right there. Any thoughts?

It might not have been, or might not be the windshield seal that is leaking. If you get a rust hole in the cowl area, it can drip water from under the dash. The other thing that happens is the rubber/plastic tubes that carry water from the cowl area, to the outside of the firewall, behind the front fenders - - cracks with age and leaks...

FWIW,

Carl B.
