Where to get Panasports?

Hey y'all-

I've already talked to MSA and have put out a few emails, ClassicDatsun.com included, and I am waiting for responses... but I'm curious as to where else people have purchased from.

I am looking to purchase the 16x7 Formulas in Graphite (i.e. Gunmetal) with the polished lip by the end of next week. MSA no longer stocks them but can get them but it will take 4 to 6 MONTHS!!! Currently MSA is getting $1350 for the special order.

I'm not interested in buying the silver ones and them having them powdercoated... I'd rather wait.

All response welcome... Thanks,

Nate :beard:

Probably not the size you are lookin for but I've got a set of [5] 14" x 7" Panasport racing rims with new Kumho V710s (225/14 R50) with 2 track days on them, with also a set of [4] Toyo RA1's tires with a couple events still left on them. Had to get 15" Panas for the Wilwood brakes to fit. Need to get all of this out of the garage for like $1100 or so for everything... Just to busy to put them up for sale.

They are not easy to find. I got the last set that K-Speed had before closing up shop. Someone on this site found them on ebay and posted a heads-up. I jumped at the buy it now of $900 which was a lot better than the $1300 that MSA wanted at the time.

I.M.O. I think the Panasport fit the race look best with the Z. I could only go 15" because of the width of tire and lowered coil overs it starts to rub the rear wheel wells in hard turns. Didn't want to roll the fender edge or go narrow tires... so increase sping rate and raised rear ride height a bit made things perfect. Hold out little longer for what you really want, you'll be happier in the long run.:classic:

I'm waiting on Les to call me back right with pricing. He already e mailed me to let me know that apparently there are no 16" Grey w/polished lip in North America right now, Yippee! So I guess I'm going to have to wait the 4 to 6 months for them to be ordered/made/shipped in. Now it just comes down to price... really it's a shame because I really wanted to have them on for the summer... now I'm just hoping to get them by the Vintage Sports Car Race at Watkins Glen this September.

You COULD always go with 16" graphite Rewinds. They look great and are quite a bit cheaper that the Panasports. I would have considered them, but they weren't being made yet when I bought wheels last summer. Here they are for $600/set. These particular ones are silver, but they would probably sell you either finish. They seem to rotate the ads for the various colors even though the pictures are for graphite ones.

Consider for a minute that you could get two sets of Konigs for the price you will likely pay for one set of Panasports :stupid:

Yeah, I did give some thought to the Konigs, but I think they look more like the Watanabes more than the Panasports and I prefer the the Panasports, especially the 16x7 and especially the grey. I know there is a significant price difference between the two and I MANY other things I need to do to the Z but...

So I bit the bullet and ordered the Panasports. Les from ClassicDatsun.com called me back and made me an offer I couldn't refuse. First time I've dealt with Les and I must say it was a pleasure, and I will be placing other orders with him in the very near future.

On that note... He has 15x7 Gunmetal Panasports in-stock if anyone is interested.

FYI, my rear tires do rub the fenders, so I plan on rolling the lips as soon as I can swindle a wooden baseball bat away from one of the neighborhood kids :bandit:

Thanks for the heads up Jeff... So now I'm in the market for a Loisville Slugger...

In all seriousness, I've read where some people with the 225's on 16x7's have issues and some don't... I'll just go ahead and roll the fenders just in case because I am on the Eibach's w/ Tokico struts.

Thanks again,

Nate
