I like the electric fuel pump kill switch idea....In my case I have both mechanical and electric fuel pumps on board. If the electric fuel pump is disabled, will the mechanical still draw gas through it?

Dunno, but you could always just remove remove the mechanical pump. The electric should be able to handle the load by itself. An easy test would be to bypass the mechanical pump temporarily. Perhaps someone can answer if it's ok to run the mechanical pump dry for a short period of time.

I plan on installing an alarm with an ignition cut-off as well as a manual fuel pump cut-off switch once I get the car back on the road. If the stock electric pump can't hack it I plan on replacing it with a newer Holley Red pump.

I agree with Adam. Depending on what your car is worth/how much you value your car, I like the idea of having multiple levels of protection. Cutoff switch(s), club, alarm system, trunk monkeys, etc.

I hadn't seen the flashfog product before but I like it.

Lojack GPS is great for getting it back, they also have the early warning system that lets you know if your car is being moved and that is key to finding it before it gets parted out or totalled.

Electric fuel pump.... and a power switch. It works so good that *I* forgot that I turned it off and couldn't figure out how to get the car started. After standing around looking at the carbs, the ignition switch, and scratching my head.... it suddenly dawned on me. THE SWITCH WAS OFF!! :)

I did the same thing, once. A long, long time ago. Almost killed the battery trying to star the car. Until I remembered the switch. :stupid:

Who had the electric thing that required you to push a button within, say 30 seconds of starting the engine, or the engine would be disabled?

There you go, why not add a sign that says "To steal me, push this button >"

Why do you expect people to advertise their security device.:finger: Think Man, Think!

I agree 100% With Bryan here. I have a system but I will not tell anyone other than my closest friends how it works . security is only good with this if now one knows what has been done. A certain member came by my house when we ,EScanlon and I , were installing my system. That vary evening he came on this forum and told everyone what was done and how to disable it and my name . I had some choice words to say about the STUPIDITY of this person. And he knows who he is and I am still pissed about it . Even though he went back and edited the information. :finger:

The kicker to what you decide as a disabling device is to never discuss what you've done. As long as people know what device you've got, loose lips can put you in danger. The worse thing you can do is post it on a forum.

I disagree, at least in part. I have often thought about this when seeing threads of this nature. If the poster actually describes everything in intimate detail with pictures, procedures, and all the gory details of how to bypass it, then this might be something of a worry. But that would just be plain dumb if you also provided your name, general area, VIN, license number, etc., or that info could be extrapolated from various threads on the site. I for example don't live exactly where my location says, have never used my last name, provided my home phone number, or any other easily identifiable information (aside from my VIN) making the task of trying to find me a bit harder, but certainly not impossible.

One thing you need to remember is that most thieves will always take the path of least resistance. A car with multiple systems/devices that work together will help keep the car safe in the face of most threats. Multiple systems provides the thief with more hurdles to overcome. This means more exposure, more risk and increases the likelihood that the thief will be unsuccessful, identified, caught, or my favorite... shot by the owner. In most cases, when faced with hurdles, thieves will just move on to the next car.

Bottom line is that if someone really wants you car, it's going to get stolen. If there's a will, there's a way. This is why we should all have comprehensive insurance covering a stated value that we agree with.
