Duffman Posted April 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2007 I purchased some clear plastic headlight covers for my Z last year and am finally looking at installing them. Unfortunately, the fit is not that great . There seem to be many gaps I can't close. Has anyone had any luck with a good fit? Can you get the nice chrome-trimmed ones anywhere that fit more securely? Appreciate the feedback!
AZ2NV Posted April 7, 2007 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2007 I have had 3 different types of covers for my '71.Who or where did you purchase your set ? The MSA set is the easiest I found to install. I currently also have a set of JDM chrome ring... I think they look the best, however they appear to have the largest gaps when pre-fitting them. Curtis240Z Posted April 7, 2007 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2007 All the ones I bought from MSA fit nicely. The rubber gasket around the cover finishes the look nicely. The key is to be very careful where you place the securing points because due to the compound curves the brackets sometimes pull the cover in an undesireable direction. Arne Posted April 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted April 7, 2007 The factory covers with the chrome trim have not been available for a good number of years. Other than used, assuming you can find anyone willing to part with them.
Duffman Posted April 7, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted April 7, 2007 I got mine off ebay. They have 2 plastic pieces that attach, or go in, where the headlight adjustment screws are and an adhesive piece that attaches to the front lower part of the headlight housing. Just seems to be somewhat lame ...
Cethern Posted April 8, 2007 Share #6 Posted April 8, 2007 DuffmanI have a set of those and the fit is not that great. Over time it seems to have gotten a little better, Or maybe I have got used to the fit.But you do have to look at them close to see where the gasket does not fitreal tight.Eric

Mr Camouflage Posted April 12, 2007 Share #10 Posted April 12, 2007 I trimmed mine down till they were a better fit. Stock they wanted to be under stress to fit, so i cut down some of the edges that were pushing them out of shape, till they fitted under no stress. Never actually fitted them though, since the car is a work in progress. Then i got a set of nissan chrome rim type ones
