Couple Odd Questions

So I was working on my wiring in the hatch today, when I pulled off the passengers side panel to reveal a plastic container with a bunch of hoses on it. Is that a charcoal canister?... should it be inside the passenger compartment?

Also, it appears my awesome previous owner has replaced a wheel stud with a standard one some time ago... .really annoying cause there is only one nut that must go on that stud.... What is the proper standard size to replace this.

Thanks,

Adam

by the way its my 71 240z

Plastic evap tanks were used through at least 4/71 production, as I have a spare un-cracked one from my parts car, as well as the one still in my 10/70 yellow car. By 7/71 production they had changed to metal, as that's what's in my red car.

Thanks,

So just to get this right. That tank traps fumes allowing them to condense and go back into the tank?

This is the intent. to keep the fumes from the environment. If you know about the dangers of gasoline vapors , I am with you about the surprise to find it in the cabin. My self I did away with the thing altogether. Gary
