KATS that is fabulous!

I heard the C rubbers were to stop women's skirts from catching.... but in the prime of mini-skirts, I can understand why it did not seem to go into most production cars.

btw some of the early 240z's tested in NA had the C Rubber

It is on in some of the USA/Can testing in Q4 of 1969  (Brasso and desert)

It is on HLS30-00008 on the cover of Jan 1970 R&T

It is also on the yellow unknown early Z photo below

...and in the very early 240z  studio shots.

Hi Kats. I love your 240ZG! I have a few US sales guides not as cool as your though. Small pocket guides from 1971 and 1979 and a large binder from a sales training course. It has several pages of handwritten notes from the person taking the class and also the end of class test. There is also a 1973 new product guide in the binder so i think the course is also from 1973. The 1971 and 1973 guides have sections on the 240z. The 1971 pocket guide is mostly specs for the cars, but the 1973 guide has a page of sales tips too.

Hey Kats do you know if there is a difference between the dump guard on 240z vs z432? I was reading online that z432 goes from the radiator to near the firewall, while the 240z dump guards go from the radiator to the crossmember.

Thanks for all the photos by the way, it's nice to see well treated cars. :)

Hopefully Kats won't mind me answering that question.

I think you're getting mixed up between the PS30 Fairlady Z432 and the PS30-SB Fairlady Z432-R.

It was only the 432-R which had the full-length, FRP 'under cover':

Wow that's really cool, are there reproductions of this available? (I assume the OEM Nissan ones would be hard to come by).

It does not appear to be made out of metal? On the third image it looks more like a fiber based material..

As mentioned, the material is FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic - AKA 'Fibreglass').

There are occasional private re-pops of these items by specialists in Japan, but few and far between. 'Revive Jalopy' in Saitama makes them to order (no stock held, I believe) but might need a minimum order to start a new batch. They are 'reassuringly expensive' too...

prototypereadeck.jpgThank you every one! A lot of imputs make this thread alive!

Gav240z, your 240Z has an unique holder, same as the picture and Z432 too. I think this holder was shared with SP/SR roadstar, was not it?

In this picture, we see the wheel was for a SP/SR roadster because it has cap teeth !

For Z432 , if owner chose 5 magnesium wheels , the spare tire holder was chosen this (like a tap of fire pump) , shape of the center hub can not

accept a dish holder which is used for a steel wheel. Some owner chose a steel wheel for the spare tire, to reduce price.

My elder sister PS30-00087 has the tap holder, but slightly different from mine. The yellow Z432 is PS30-00013,my Z432 has same tap as 00013 (I added  a rubber sheet  I do not want to scrach  center hub) . And my blue 1970 240Z.

Gavin, Blue, and Alan, yes the C shape rubber cap is a safty feature for preventing dragging nice dress , however you can catch beautiful women as long as driving S30 even if you have C caps at both endsLOL I am looking for where the description is, made by Mr. Matsuo ? or Mr. Uemura ? or someone involved S30 development. From the pictures Nissan did not think the cap was only for Japan at the begining, but after starting regular export Nissan decided took them off, why ? Like a sprash pan, I do not get it the difference between Japan and other country.

Mike, that stuff is first time for me, I have never seen it before, it is so cool, please let us know what you think interesting. And I thought the word  "salesman" would be Japanese-English , but it is not!

heyitsrama, Alan explained precisely , I have heard from the 432R owner, the under cover is good for racing but not good for city drving, stop and go traffic causes over heating in a hot summer .

Hey Kats,

RE: Spare tyre hold down fastener/clamp I had assumed mine was not correct for the car, but after the information you shared I'm guessing it's possible it was fitted by the dealer or sourced from a roadster as you mentioned (I've never checked a Roadster's spare wheel to verify this, but will now that you mention it).

The hotwire wheel you saw in the boot of HS30 00150 may have very well been fitted by a local dealer, the wheels are made by a company called Aunger who did a lot of automotive accessories back in the 70s / 80s including the very popular at the time Aunger Hotwires. Below is a photo of the car just after I bought it.

I have seen many Australian 240z/260z's with these wheels, my guess it that perhaps the dealer fitted these wheels when the car arrived (removed the Topy spare sadly) and used this type of hold down fastener when the original topy version didn't work.
